
Blades' Saviano promoted to AHL

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades president & general manager Craig Brush, along with head coach Gerry Fleming announced today that forward Steve Saviano has been called up to the Lowell Lock Monsters of the American Hockey League and that forward Kevin Estrada has been assigned to the Everblades by Lowell.
Saviano heads to Lowell after tallying 14 points (5g, 9a) in nine games with the Everblades this season. The 24-year-old had registered a point in seven of the last eight games, and strung together a five-game point streak from Oct. 29 - Nov. 11. Saviano leads the ECHL in short-handed goals with three, including scoring two in one game on Nov. 18 vs. Charlotte. The Reading, Massachusetts native becomes the eighth Everblades player to receive a call-up to the AHL since training camp opened on October 9.
Estrada joins the Everblades after skating in eight games with the Lock Monsters. The 23-year-old native of Surrey, British Columbia did not register a point and collected six penalty minutes with Lowell this season.
The former 3rd round draft pick by the Carolina Hurricanes in 2001 is in his rookie season after spending the last four years at the collegiate level with Michigan State University. Estrada is coming off a senior season with the Spartans having scored four points (3g, 1a) in 26 games. Overall in his college career Estrada notched 42 points (20g, 24a) in 135 games. His best season came during the 2002-03 campaign when he scored 16 points in 34 games.
Prior to joining Michigan State, Estrada played one season in the British Columbia Hockey League with Chilliwack, picking up 34 goals and 84 assists in 56 games.
The Everblades return to action tonight when they take on the Greenville Grrrowl at 7:05 p.m. from the BI-LO Center in Greenville, SC. Florida returns home to Germain Arena for a pair of games against the Gwinnett Gladiators on Friday & Saturday, December 2 & 3. Everblades 2005-06 group tickets, and individual game tickets are on sale now!
