BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors today acquired forward Joel Irving from the South Carolina Stingrays in exchange for goaltender Davis Parley.

Irving, 29, returned to South Carolina this season after stints with Sheffield of the UK's Elite League and Odessa of the CHL. In addition to his ten games this season, the 6-foot-4 left winger played with the Stingrays from 2000-03 after a two-year stretch in Johnstown. In six ECHL seasons, the Lumsden, Saskatchewan native has 107 goals and 125 assists in 321 games. Irving has made 30 appearances in the American Hockey League with the Saint John Flames and Rochester Americans, scoring a goal and two assists in that time. A graduate of Western Michigan University, Irving was drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in the 6th round of the 1994 NHL Entry Draft.

In ten games this year, Irving has scored a goal and four assists with six penalty minutes.

Parley, 23, re-joined the Condors after being brought to the team late last season, filling in for the injured Yutaka Fukufuji. Parley arrived via trade from the Texas Wildcatters, where he played in 27 games with a goals against average of 3.50 and a save percentage of .916. The Surrey, British Columbia, native started six regular season games for Bakersfield last year and put up a save percentage of .922 during that span. Due to Fukufuji's injury, Parley was forced to start all 5 games of the 2005 Kelly Cup Playoffs Western Division Semifinals against the Alaska Aces.

In six starts this season, Parley posted a record of 2-3-1 with a 3.78 goals against average and a .879 save percentage.

"We needed a solid bona fide second line player to help our attack," said Head Coach Marty Raymond. "[Condors goaltender] Ryan Munce is starting to come into his own and we wanted to add some offense and size to our lineup."

Other notes: The Condors also announced the release of C/LW Nick Ganga from the team.

The Condors return to action on Saturday, November 26th when they host the Fresno Falcons at 7:00pm. The evening will feature the Condors annual Teddy Bear Toss, presented by 29 Eyewitness News, KERN 1410 AM, and Wells Fargo Bank. Fans are encouraged to donate stuffed animals to Bakersfield charities by tossing them onto the ice after the first Condors goal. Last season, Condors fans donated over 7,000 plush toys and have collected more than 26,000 stuffed animals over the six-year history of the event.
