Chris Durno posted a pair of third period goals to push the Gladiators past the Charlotte Checkers 5-1 on Tuesday night at the Charlotte Bobcats Arena to help the Gladiators improve to 7-2-1 on the season.

Ryan Fultz got the Gladiators on the board with his second tally of the season finding a loose puck along the goal line on the off wing and flipping past Charlotte netminder Chris Holt. Brad Schell dug the puck off the wall in his own zone and found Jeff Campbell in the neutral zone to set up the play. Holt made the save off Campbell's slap-shot from the left wing circle, but the netminder couldn't corral the rebound where Fultz found the puck for the tally at 9:36 of the first period.

Charlotte equalized the contest with less than five minutes left in the opening period. Dusty Jamieson knocked the puck away from a Gladiators defenseman at the blue line on a Gladiators power play and beat netminder Sean Fields on a breakaway for the unassisted tally at 14:39 of the first period.

Guillaume Desbiens put the Gladiators back up by a goal finding a rebound in the slot and backhanding the puck past Holt for his third goal of the season to give the Gladiators a 2-1 lead. Brad Schell and Matt York added the assists on the tally at 3:55 of the second period.

Derek Nesbitt gave the Gladiators a little breathing room with his second goal of the season deflecting Troy Milam's slapshot on the point past Holt. Chris Durno added an assist on the power play goal at 8:38 of the third period.

Gwinnett took a 4-1 lead on Chris Durno's 9th goal of the season as the forward walked out from behind the net into the slot and ripped a snapshot from point blank range past Holt for the tally. Scott Kelman and Pascal Pelletier picked up the assists on the tally at 16:05 of the third period.

Durno's second goal of the contest rounded out the scoring as he took a pass from Scott Kelman and beat Holt from a bad angle at 18:39 of the third period. The puck took a weird bound off a seam in the glass and shot out in the slot where Kelman picked up the puck to set up the play.

Durno's three points extends his point scoring streak to nine games while the Gladiators power play goal extends the team's power play streak to nine games as well. Sean Fields improves to 7-1-0 on the season with the win.
