Florida Everblades News Release
GREENVILLE, SC - The Florida Everblades (6-4-0) saw the Greenville Grrrowl (7-4-0) score a pair of quick third period goals to pick up a 3-1 win and snap Florida's two-game winning streak.
The Grrrowl, who have won three straight, opened the scoring just 5:08 into the game when Matt Zultek wristed a shot past Everblades goaltender Craig Kowaski. It was the eighth time in 10 games that the Everblades have allowed the first goal of the game. However, the Everblades battled back to tie the game with a 5-on-3 power play goal by Ryan Brindley who extended his point scoring streak to six straight games.
Tied 1-1 entering the third period, Greenville collected a pair of goals from Allan Sirois just 37 seconds apart to grab a 3-1 lead. Sirois' goals came at 4:05 and 4:42, which was just after the Everblades saw Kevin Bergin stopped on two quality chances by Greenville net-minder Mike Brodeur less than three minutes into the final period.
Kowalski (2-3-0) suffered the tough-luck loss despite stopping 36 of 39 Greenville shots, including turning away 22 of 24 shots in the third period. Brodeur won his third straight game and raised his overall record to 6-3-0 by making 35 saves.
The Everblades closed out the night 1-for-6 on the power play, while the Grrrowl finished the game gong 0-for-6 with the man advantage.
The Everblades return to action on Wednesday, November 23 when they take on the Columbia Inferno at 7:05 p.m. from the Carolina Coliseum in Columbia, SC.
