Johnstown Chiefs News Release


The Johnstown Chiefs (2-6-4) picked up their first win of the season, Friday night at home against South Carolina. The Chiefs made it two-in-a-row with a road win over Toledo, Saturday, 5-2. The Chiefs will make their 2nd trip this season to Trenton, Wednesday night, followed by Trenton¡¦s third visit to Johnstown on Friday. The Chiefs will wrap-up the holiday weekend with a trip to Wheeling on Saturday. The Chiefs trail Dayton by two points for fifth place in the North Division, and Trenton by 6 points for 4th place.

Game #11 (11/18/05) JOHNSTOWN 4- South Carolina 1

Boutin 29 Saves The Chiefs picked up win number one, Friday, by beating South Carolina, 4-1. Justin Kelly scored just 57 seconds into the game and a solid Jonathan Boutin kicked aside 29 of 30 shots. Adam Henrich and Mike Egener each tallied goals, as did John Toffey, who added the empty netter. With two assists, Kelly had three points. Henrich also added a helper, giving him a two point night. Johnstown¡¦s PK was again perfect, holding the Stingrays scoreless in three chances. Aaron Power¡¦s shorthanded tally late in the first period was SC¡¦s lone goal.

Game #12 (11/12/05) Johnstown 5 ¡V TOLEDO 2

Cey 29 saves A brilliant performance in net by Morgan Cey backstopped the Chiefs to their 2nd consecutive win. Cey stopped 29 of 31, including 15 in the first period. Justin Kelly again added three points, with a pair of goals and an assist. Randy Rowe and Adam Henrich each netted a goal and assist; it was Henrich¡¦s 2nd consecutive multi-point game. Brady Greco, Gerard Decaire, and Paul Caponigri each had two assists.

UPCOMING OPPONENTS: Wednesday, November 23 at Trenton 7:30 p.m.

The three previous meetings between the two clubs have gone to a shootout, with Trenton winning all three. Justin Kelly has six points in his last two games.

Friday, November 25 vs. Trenton 7:30 p.m.

The Chiefs have led, 2-1, in each contest. Trenton is the lowest scoring team in the ECHL, scoring just 25 goals in 11 games. Trenton, however, has allowed the fewest goals in the league, allowing just 24 goals.

Saturday, November 26 at Wheeling 7:30 p.m.

The Nailers are led by rookies Sean Collins and Kurtis McLean, who have 14 points in 11 games. Nailers goalie, Andy Franck is 4-1 on the year.

CHIEFS NOTES:

Justin Kelly had three goals and three assists in two games last week The Chiefs have won consecutive games in regulation for the first time since February 19 and 20th.

The Chiefs rookie goaltenders, Morgan Cey and Jonathan Boutin each stopped 29 shots last week. Each picked up their first win.

The Chiefs have not beaten Trenton since February 20, 2005.

The Chiefs victory over Toledo was their first since 12/31/2004, and first win in Toledo since February 27, 2004.
