'Gades Open Homestand with Two Wins

Richmond Renegades News Release


The Richmond Renegades are 8-7 after going 2-2 on last week. The ‘Gades won the first two games of a four game homestand and have won seven of their last nine games. The ‘Gades are three points out of first place in the Northeast Division. Richmond hosts Roanoke Friday and Reading Saturday.

Friday, November 15 vs. Roanoke 7:35 PM

GAME NOTES: The first of 10 meetings and the first of five here. The ‘Gades were 4-5-1 vs. the Express last season, 1-3-1 at Richmond. Express beat the ‘Gades twice in the preseason. Express roster features ex-‘Gades Frank Novock and Dylan Gyori.

Saturday, November 16 vs. Reading 7:35 PM

GAME NOTES: The second of eight meetings and the first of four here. Richmond beat the Royals 6-5 in a shootout on 11/3. Nick Lent scored two goals. Marc Magliarditi stopped all five Royals in the shootout. Ex-‘Gade Brian McCullough had three points.

Sunday, November 17 @ Roanoke 4:05 PM

GAME NOTES: The second of 10 meetings and the first of five at Roanoke. Richmond was 3-2 at Roanoke last season. Richmond's only road game in a span of eight games. The second of three meetings with the Express in eight days.

GAME NOTES: The ‘Gades jumped out to a 2-0 lead but the Bullies rallied back with a goal in each period. Richmond held the Bullies to only 15 shots on goal. Kevin Colley had a goal and two assists to lead the Bullies

Friday, November 8 @ Pee Dee LOSS 5-2

GAME NOTES: The ‘Gades and Pride were deadlocked at two with under seven minutes to play when Pee Dee exploded for three goals. Greg Schmidt had a goal and three assists. Lars Pettersen and Milt Mastad scored for Richmond.

Saturday, November 9 vs. Trenton WIN 3-2

GAME NOTES: The ‘Gades rallied from a 2-0 deficit to score three second period goals. Dan Vandermeer's shorthanded tally in the final minute of the second period proved to be the game-winner. Dan Lombard made 24 saves to earn the win.

Sunday, November 10 vs. Atlantic City WIN 3-2 (SO)

GAME NOTES: The ‘Gades beat Atlantic City for the first time in three tries despite the Bullies out-shooting the ‘Gades 41-28. Dan Lombard made 39 saves. Richard Pitirri scored the game-winner in round seven of the shootout

‘GADES NOTES: Richmond has won two straight and seven of their last nine games after a 1-5 start. The ‘Gades are 5-0 in overtime/shootouts. The 15 shots allowed by the ‘Gades Monday vs. Atlantic City is the lowest surrendered by Richmond since November 28, 1998 when the ‘Gades held the Johnstown Chiefs to 14 shots and lost 3-2. The 41 shots allowed by the ‘Gades Sunday vs. Atlantic City is a season high. David Brosseau's five game scoring streak ended Sunday. Nick Lent has points in five straight. Richard Pitirri's three game scoring streak ended Sunday. Lars Pettersen has points in three straight games. Kerry Ellis-Toddington picked up his first pro penalty in game number 14 Saturday. Marc Magliarditi now has 116 career wins and is sixth in ECHL history. Dan Lombard played for the first time since 10/27 Saturday and had his first back to back starts in net over the weekend. He had a club season high 39 saves Sunday. Richmond wrapped up a six game road trip Friday with a 4-2 record. Richmond played 10 of their first 13 on the road. The ‘Gades are 2-0 on a four game homestand. They are in a stretch of 10 of 12 games at home. Seven players on the 'Gades roster were not in the opening night lineup. The ‘Gades have nine former NHL draft picks on the club. Richmond has eight rookies on the club. The ‘Gades eight game winning goals have been scored by six different players. The ‘Gades are in a stretch of five straight games against Northeast Division opponents. The ‘Gades are 20 for their last 21 on the penalty kill and have three power play goals and one shorthanded goal in their last two games. Six of the ‘Gades eight wins have been by one goal. The ‘Gades have scored three or fewer goals in four straight games.
