BOISE, Idaho - The Idaho Steelheads gained ground on first place in the West Coast Hockey League after winning in San Diego Saturday night (4-2), and losing in Bakersfield on Sunday (2-4). Idaho is now five points ahead of the second place Bakersfield Condors with a total of 17 points on the season. The Steelheads lead the league with goals (42), assists (67), points (109), and power play goals (18).
Weekend highlights: Marinucci earned first star honors for his 2 goals and 1 assist in San Diego. In seven games, Marinucci has tallied 9 points. Also, earning a special mention for their offensive talents: Marty Flichel scored 3 goals - 2 in San Diego and 1 in Bakersfield; Joe Rybar had 4 assists - 3 in San Diego and 1 in Bakersfield; and Scott Swanson had 2 assists in San Diego - Swanson is the league's leading defenseman for points and assists with 12.
Up next: The Steelheads travel to Long Beach for a three-game series on November 13th, 15th and 16th.
The Steelheads welcome the Taylor Cup Champion Fresno Falcons to the Bank of America Centre for two games on November 22nd and 23rd. November 22nd is Idaho Wildlife Night and the first 2,500 fans in the door will receive a free license plate magnet promoting the new state wildlife plate.
