LONG BEACH SHOCKER

The Condors hosted Long Beach for the first time this season on Wednesday night at Centennial Garden. The Condors held leads of 2-1 and 3-2 during the third period, but let it slip away with under two minutes to play. Long Beach tied the game at 3-3 with 1:21 remaining, and pushed in front less than a minute later to steal two points away from Bakersfield. An empty net goal sealed the 5-3 win for the Ice Dogs.

DEFENSE RULES

The Condors and Falcons engaged in a tough battle on Friday in Fresno. The Falcons opened the scoring in the first, only to have David Bell tie the game with a slapshot from the left point. Jamie Cooke netted his fourth tally of the season exactly halfway through the game, and the Condors led 2-1 after two periods. Bakersfield put up 19 third period shots, while netminder Kevin St. Pierre did the rest in the Condors 2-1 victory.

Saturday, November 9

DEJA VU

One night later, in Fresno as well, the Falcons and Condors skated to a 1-1 tie through 20 minutes. Jason Ralph scored on a nice re-direction for his third goal of the season. In the second period, Jamie Cooke again scored the go-ahead goal, at 3:27 for the 2-1 lead. Sturdy defensive play for Bakersfield held the Falcons to just 22 shots in the game and St. Pierre once again won 2-1. The victory gave the Condors a 4-0 record against Fresno, and also a 4-0 record on the road.

Sunday, November 10

THREE IN A ROW

Bakersfield moved into second place on Sunday with a 4-2 win over the Idaho Steelheads. Christian Skoryna, Shawn Byram and Jeff Goldie scored consecutive goals to give the Condors a 3-1 lead early in the third period. A late Idaho goal pulled them within one, but Jamie Cooke iced the win with an empty net, shorthanded goal for the victory. St. Pierre stopped 28 shots in earning his sixth win of the year, and his third win of the week. After the game, the Veteran's Day jerseys the team wore were auctioned off to raise money for the Petroleum Shrine Club. A new club record was set, as over $23,000 was brought in, including $3,700 for St. Pierre's jersey.
