
Smith Helps Men O\' War to Three out of Six Points

Lexington, KY- The Men O' War captured three of a possible six points in three games against division rivals this weekend. The MOW began the weekend with an overtime loss in Cincinnati. On Saturday, the Northwest division leading Toledo Storm downed the Men O' War 3-2 in Toledo. On Sunday, the MOW returned home and recorded their only win of the weekend with a 3-2 shootout victory over the Johnstown Chiefs. Mark Smith recorded points in all three games with three goals and six points on the weekend. This weekend the MOW enjoy a three games home stand.
Friday, November 8th â atCincinnati 4, Lexington 3 OT
It was guaranteed win night in Cincinnati and the Cincinnati Cyclones delivered by beating the Men O' War 4-3 in overtime. Cyclones' Captain Nick Bootland scored the game winner on the power play with just 1:19 gone in overtime. Despite Lexington's Van Burgess and Mark Smith combining for six points, the Men O' War extended their winless streak to three games. Burgess tallied two goals and Smith added his first goal of the weekend. The Men O' War still got a point in the standings for their overtime loss.
Saturday, November 9th â at Toledo 3, Lexington 2
Toledo, OH- The Toledo Storm rained on the Men O' War with a 3-2 win. Alexander Jacques scored the game winner with just under five minutes to go extending the Men O' War's winless streak to four. Men O' War forward Mark Smith tallied both goals for Lexington.
Sunday, November 10th âat Lexington 3, Chiefs 2
Lexington, KY- The Lexington Men O' War ended their four-game losing streak with a 3-2 shootout win at home over the Johnstown Chiefs. Mike Sgroi scored the game winner leading the shootout charge on which the Men O' War were a perfect 3-for-3. Mike Smith stopped 27 of 29 shots en route to his second pro win. Smith also blocked all three Chief shooters in the shootout. Van Burgess and Sgroi picked up the regulation goals. They each also scored in the shootout, as did center Mark Smith.
Smith leads MOW offense...
Mark Smith started a scoring streak this weekend with points in all three MOW games. Smith began the weekend with a goal and two assists in an overtime loss at Cincinnati. Smith then took his road show to Toledo where he notched two more goals. Smith registered an assist at home on Sunday to finish the weekend with six points in three games. Smith leads the MOW in several offensive categories including points (12), goals (6), assists (6), power play goals (2), game-winning goals (2) and first goals (3).
Upcoming Games ......
The Men O' War begin a three game home stand on Friday against the Cincinnati Cyclones. The MOW will be looking to avenge an overtime loss to the âClones in Cincinnati last Friday. On Saturday, Lexington will meet the Johnstown Chiefs for the third time this season. The Men O' War have triumphed in both of the previous meetings. The MOW rap up the weekend with a game against the Arkansas Riverblades. The meeting is the first of three this season with the âBlades at Rupp Arena.

MOW Tracks ......
Nine of the MOW's first 13 games were decided by one goal. In one goal games, Lexington has recorded 3 wins, 2 losses and 4 overtime losses...Lexington is one of only three ECHL teams to not allow a shorthanded goal this season...Mike Smith is eighth in the ECHL with a 2.37 GAA.
