Mike Valley Named ECHL Goalie of the Week

WHEELING, WV – The Wheeling Nailers announce today that Mike Valley has been named the East Coast Hockey League Goaltender of the Week for the week of November 4 – November 10. The Nailers posted three wins over the weekend to improve their record to 6-9-1 and have moved into third place in the Northwest Division.

Valley started the weekend with a 4-1 win Friday night in Johnstown. It was the first road win of the season for the Nailers. In the game he faced 37 Chiefs shots and made 36 saves. On Saturday night Valley made 29 saves on 31 shots in regulation and overtime in Roanoke. In the shootout against the Express he stopped all four shots as the Nailers won 3-2. Valley concluded his unbeaten weekend with a come from behind win against the Cincinnati Cyclones in Wheeling. The Nailers fell behind 3-1 in the third period but rallied for a 4-3 win as Valley made 28 saves on 31 shots.

For the weekend Valley went 3-0-0 improving his personal record to 5-6-1. He made 93 saves on 99 shots in the three games for a .939 save percentage and had a 1.95 goals against average.

The Nailers play in Dayton on Friday night and host the Peoria Rivermen at home on Saturday and Sunday. The first 2,500 fans in attendance on Sunday will receive a Pittsburgh Penguins calendar and will be able to skate with several Nailers players after the game.
