CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL, announced Friday (Dec. 1) that they have agreed to terms with defenseman Rory Rawlyk for the remainder of the season. Rawlyk had been playing with xxx in the Sweden Elite League (SEL).

Rawlyk, 23, appeared in 14 games this season with Bofors IK in the Allsvenskan Division of the Sweden Elite League (SE). He scored two goals and added a pair of assists for four points and 44 penalty minutes.

Last season, Rawlyk played with Charlotte (ECHL) and tallied twelve goals and 28 assists for 40 points and 91 penalty minutes. His season was highlighted by being selected to the ECHL All-Star Game and was named a starter in the contest. Rawlyk recorded a pair of assists in the 7-6 loss by the American Conference All-Stars.

Rawlyk is in his fourth season as a professional, the first three with Charlotte (ECHL) and has also had nine games of experience with Hartford (AHL)-making trips to that club in each of his first three seasons.

"Rory is going to help us on the power play immediately," Cyclones Head Coach Chuck Weber said. "He is an offensive defenseman with a solid shot and reads the play very well. His experience playing the ECHL will be a bonus as well."

Rawlyk is in Cincinnati and may dress for tonight's game against Wheeling.

The Cyclones are next in action on Friday, December 1, when the Wheeling Nailers come to town for a 7:30pm tilt at U.S. Bank Arena. It is Reality TV Stars night, with approximately 20 persons from half a dozen shows represented.
