Gladiators Clipped in OT, 3-2

Mike Vigilante posted a pair of goals for the Gladiators but it wasn't enough as the Gladiators dropped a 3-2 overtime decision to the Dayton Bombers on Friday night. Gwinnett falls to 10-5-4 on the season in the overtime loss.

Gwinnett jumped out to a 1-0 lead on Mike Vigilante's 10th goal of the season. Finding a rebound in the slot, Vigilante jammed the puck past Dayton netminder Adam Berkhoel just 4:55 into the first period. Colton Fretter and Brad Schell collected the assists on the goal for the Gladiators.

Dayton's Paul Kelly tied the game at one just 3:51 into the second period. Taking a pass from Greg Labenski, Kelly ripped a shot past Gladiators netminder Dave Caruso from the right wing circle. Petr Pohl also picked up an assist on the goal for the Bombers.

Joe Cullen gave the Bombers a 2-1 lead beating Caruso from the slot just 4:47 into the third period. Brent Walton rolled the puck to Cullen in the slot to set up the goal. Justin Maiser also collected an assist on the goal for the Bombers.

Gwinnett equalized the contest at the 9:32 mark of the third period with a power play goal. Vigilante added his second goal of the game as he deflected Jon Awe's slapshot from the right point past Berkhoel for the goal. Scott Mifsud also collected an assist on the goal.

Dayton won the contest in overtime after a Gladiators penalty expired as Brad Farynuk ripped a slap shot from the left wing circle past Caruso for the game winner. Labenski and Cullen collected the assists on the goal scored with just four seconds left in the overtime period for the win.

Caruso finished with 21 saves for the Gladiators in the overtime loss as Dayton finished out shooting the Gladiators by a 24-21 margin. Gwinnett did pick up one power play goal on six chances in the loss.
