Wranglers Bounce Steelheads 3-1

Boise, ID - The Las Vegas Wranglers (11-1-7, 29 points) defeated the Idaho Steelheads (11-4-2, 24 points) 3-1 at the Qwest Arena on Friday night. Goalie Mike McKenna stopped 43 Steelheads shots for his sixth straight victory in net. Rookie Aki Seitsonen scored a goal and added an assist as Las Vegas improved to 10-05 on the road this season. Center Tyler Mosienko dished out two assists in the Wranglers seventh straight win. Winger Marco Peluso and Shawn Limpright each scored in the victory as Las Vegas moved to 8-0-2 in their last 10 games played. Las Vegas will complete a three-game series in Idaho at 6:15 pm (PST) on Saturday night.

In the first period, Idaho came out firing on all cylinders as did Las Vegas goalie Mike McKenna. The Steelheads outshot Las Vegas 21-4 in the opening period, but only managed one goal against McKenna. Idaho did take a 1-0 lead just 5:43 into the game as Lance Galbraith scored his eighth goal of the season on the power play. Las Vegas tied the game 1-1 as Marco Peluso scored with only 36-seconds remaining in the first period. Peluso's fifth of the season was set up by rookie Aki Seitsonen.

In the second period, Las Vegas took a 2-1 lead just 1:09 into the middle period as Seitsonen scored his seventh goal of the season on a rebound. Tyler Mosienko and Shawn Limpright set up the go-ahead goal as Las Vegas took a 2-1 lead into the third period.

In the third period, Shawn Limpright added an empty-net goal with 1:27 remaining to lift the Wranglers a 3-1 win. Mike McKenna and Steve Crampton assisted on Limpright's sixth goal of the season.

Las Vegas captain Mike McBain returned to the line up after missing the last 14 games due to injury.

Las Vegas will return home on Friday, December 15th to host the Stockton Thunder at 7:05 pm. The first 2,000 fans receive a pair of Thundersticks as part of "Sing for Santa" weekend. Saturday, December 16th the Wranglers host the Fresno Falcons at 7:05 pm. The Port of Subs pre-game party will be in the concourse from 4:30 -6:30 pm prior to the game.
