Reading Royals News Release

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League and the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League, today announced that goaltender Yutaka Fukufuji ("you TAHK ah" "FOO kuh FOO gee") has been recalled to Manchester. This marks the first trip of this season to the American League for Fukufuji (6'1"/186 lbs.), who was an eighth round pick of Los Angeles in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft and is signed to a Kings' contract. A third year pro, Fukufuji (24) played in two games for the Monarchs last season, going 1-1-0 with a 3.00 goals against and a .923 save percentage. This season, Fukufuji has played in ten games for the Royals, compiling a record of 3-3-0 with a 3.19 goals against average and a .898 save percentage. In his most recent outing, a 3-1 win over the Gwinnett Gladiators on Wednesday night, Fukufuji anchored the Royals' defense, stopping 30 of the 31 shots he faced-several in spectacular fashion. In a separate transaction, the Royals have signed Brian Gratz as an emergency back-up goaltender.

The Royals return to action tonight when they take on the Toledo Storm at the Sovereign Center (7:05 pm). It is "Guys Night Out" and the first 1500 guys to arrive at tonight's game receive a mini-tool kit courtesy of the Royals. There will be a number of prizes given out at tonight's game to the guys, including an opportunity to serve as a color commentator on the Royals' broadcast crew at an upcoming game. Royals' game day broadcasts can be heard live on ESPN Radio 1240 am in Ephrata, as well as through the internet via the Royals' website (www.royalshockey.com) with the pre-game show beginning thirty minutes before the opening face-off.
