AUGUSTA, GA - The Pensacola Ice Pilots surrendered three first-period goals and dropped a 5-2 decision to the Augusta Lynx on Thursday night.

The Ice Pilots fell to 3-11-1-1, while the Augusta Lynx improved to 11-9-0-0 and won just their second on home ice this season. It was the fourth consecutive meeting between the two teams that won't face each other again until December 27.

After the Lynx jumped out to an early 1-0 lead, the Ice Pilots tied the game 24 seconds later when Greg Watson tallied his first from Colin Hemingway and Adam Taylor.

Augusta netted two goals less than 4 minutes apart including a shorthanded marker to make it 3-1 after the first frame.

After Lynx went up 4-1, the Ice Pilots pulled to within two when Colin Hemingway scored on the power play from Nikita Korovkin and Adam Taylor.

In the third period the Ice Pilots battled hard and had two near chances to tie it as Hemingway had a breakaway shorthanded that was denied by goaltender Dave McKie.

The Lynx rounded the scoring with a goal in the third period on the power play.

The Ice Pilots were outshot 50-36 as the Lyn had 39 of those shots in the first 40 minutes. Pensacola fired one power play goal on eight chances while Augusta had one goal on 10 chances.

Greg Watson had seven shots on goal to led all Ice Pilots' shooters, while Hemingway had five. Mike Ayers took the loss in goal and was pulled after the first period suffering from the flu. Michael Mole played the final 40 minutes.
