Community Appearances Make a Difference off the Ice

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - As the regular season draws to a close, the Charlotte Checkers carry on their involvement in the community during the month of March. Player's community involvement continues to be a priority, while coaching and front office staff gear up for the playoffs.

Here's an update of where you can find the Checkers players and staff during the rest of the season:

Mar. 7 - Beef O Brady's at Baxter Village in Fort Mill, S.C - Head Coach Derek Wilkinson to discuss past games and strategies, behind the scenes stories and interact with fans during a question and answer session. Begins at 7 p.m.

Mar. 9 & 10 - Players to appear at SunCom live radio broadcasts promoting Good Call pay as you go wireless phones. Prize packs will be given away and there will be an autograph signing session. March 9th location is the Arboretum Shopping Center and March 10th location is Cotswold Village Shops.

Mar. 11 - 2nd Annual Salute to Heroes presented by Pita Pit. The Charlotte Fire Department, MEDIC 911, CMPD and Sheriff's Office will join forces to help raise money for scholarship programs and families from each organization.

Mar. 14 - Charlotte Checkers 5th Annual Charity Golf Classic presented by Lastminutegolfer.com. Checkers current/former players and staff will participate to help raise funds for Checkmate Charities.

Mar. 15 - Chubby will visit the 2007 Fire and Life Safety Bowl of Mecklenburg County.

Mar. 17 - Checkers join Ace and TJ of KISS 95.1 for an after-game concert with Charity Case, all proceeds to benefit Grin Kids.

Mar. 19 & 21- Chubby will appear at Winthrop University during Sports Marketing classroom sessions.

Mar. 23 - Chubby to appear at the Iredell County Fire and Safety Bowl.

Mar. 24 - Checkers players will make an appearance at Discovery Place, to help promote "Candy Unwrapped" and interact with children.

Mar. 30 - Chubby will appear at the Saint Mark Catholic School's Walk for Diabetes.

Mar. 31 - Chubby will make a special appearance at Presbyterian Hemby Children's Hospital for their annual Easter Party.
