Thompson Traded to Gwinnett

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that defenseman Brian Lee has been traded to the Columbia Inferno in exchange for forward Chris Thompson as part of a multi-team deal.

The 9th year pro currently ranks 8th in scoring on the Inferno with 32 points off of 10 goals and 22 assists in 42 games this season with the Inferno. Thompson has also posted 77 penalty minutes for the Inferno this season.

The Prince Albert, Saskatchewan native spent a majority of the 2005-06 season with current Gladiators captain Paul Flache with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League where he recorded 2 goals and 12 assists in 44 AHL games.

Thompson began his professional career with the Augusta Lynx during the 1998-99 season after playing three seasons in the Western Hockey League with the Seattle Thunderbirds.

Lee posted a goal and 7 assists for 8 points in 55 games this season for the Gladiators. The Berrien Springs native also appeared in 4 games with the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League from January 17th through January 24th.

As part of the multi-team deal, Lee was dealt to the Stockton Thunder. Stockton sent Steve Slonina and Jeff Lang to the Charlotte Checkers for Brain Rodney. Stockton then traded Rodney to Columbia for Lee.

Thompson should be available for the Gladiators for tomorrow's 7:05 p.m. tilt at Columbia against the Inferno at 7:05 p.m.
