Gladiators' Milam Named CCM Vector Rookie Of The Month

PRINCETON, N.J. - Gwinnett defenseman Jamie Milam is the CCM Vector ECHL Rookie of the Month for February.

The 6-foot and 200-pound Milam had three goals, 10 assists, 13 points and a plus-minus rating +6 to help the Gladiators go 7-4-1 and remain in the race for the South Division title.

He tied his season high with three points (1g-2a) in a 7-4 win at Florida on Feb. 14. He had a power-play goal and an assist in a 6-2 win against Alaska in a rematch of the Kelly Cup Finals on Feb. 3 and added a pair of assists in a 7-4 loss against Augusta on Feb. 11. He had a season-high four-game point streak (1g-4a) from Feb. 20-24 including his third two-assist game of the season in a 3-1 win against South Carolina on Feb. 24.

The Lake Orion, Michigan native is second among ECHL defensemen with 17 goals and 10 power-play goals and is tied for eighth with 36 points (17g-19a) in 54 games. He is tied for second among ECHL rookies with 10 power-play goals and is sixth with 17 goals and 14th with 36 points (17g-19a).

Milam played four seasons at Northern Michigan University where he had 98 points (30g-68a) from 2002-06 and was named the recipient of the Ed Ward Most Improved Player Award as a senior at Northern Michigan University.

He signed with Fort Wayne of the United Hockey League after completing his college season in 2005-06 and had nine points (5g-4a) in eight regular season games and three points (1g-2a) in five playoff games.

Runners Up: Isaac Reichmuth, Alaska (4-0-1, 1.38 GAA, .948 save pct.), Mathieu Melanson, Stockton (4 gp, 6g, 2a, 8 pts) and Luciano Aquino, Utah (12 gp, 6g, 6a, 12 pts).
