Florida Everblades News Release
ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades President & General Manager Craig Brush, along with Head Coach Gerry Fleming announced today that defenseman Chris Lee has been returned to the club from the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League and goaltender Kevin Nastiuk has been re-called to the Everblades' AHL affiliate.
Lee, 26, saw action in three games with the River Rats and notched an assist and four penalty minutes in his first AHL action of his career. The native of MacTier, Ontario is in his third professional season and has picked up 64 points (15g, 49a) in 120 career games with the Everblades. Last season Lee was selected for the 2006 American Conference All-Star squad while notching a career high 37 points in 52 games with the Everblades.
Nastiuk heads to Albany after spending two weeks with the Everblades during training camp. The 4th round draft pick by the Hurricanes in 2003 did not see action in either regular season game for the Everblades, but did play in one pre-season game. The 21-year-old began last season in the AHL with the Lowell Lock Monsters and posted a record of 1-7-3 with a 3.45 GAA and a .887 save percentage in 11 games before joining the Everblades for the remainder of the year. The native of Edmonton, Alta. closed out the regular season with a record of 13-4-2, a 2.52 GAA and a save percentage of .924 in 20 games with the Everblades.
In addition the Everblades placed forward Dustin Johner on the 3-day injured reserve list. As per team policy the injury was not disclosed. The 23-year-old suffered an injury in the opening game of the season against Texas on October 20. Johner is in his second season with the Everblades after picking up 15 goals and 21 assists in 36 regular season games with the team last year.
The Florida Everblades, proud affiliate of the Carolina Hurricanes and the Florida Panthers, return to action on Thursday, October 26 when they host the Charlotte Checkers at 7:30 p.m. at Germain Arena. Thursday's game can be heard via the internet only because of contractual obligations of SportsRadio 770 AM to carry the World Series.
