BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The 2006-07 season is officially underway and the Bakersfield Condors just completed a very busy opening weekend. After dropping its first two games Friday and Saturday, Bakersfield came right back Sunday with a nice 5-4 win in Long Beach. This week it's on to Alaska to face the defending Kelly Cup Champion Aces.

Saturday, Oct. 28 @ Alaska (8:15 p.m.)

WEEK IN REVIEW:

Friday, Oct. 20: CONDORS 1 vs. Stockton 6 (Attendance: 6,440)

Tim O'Connell had a goal and two assists, while Devan Dubnyk made 48 saves, as the Thunder cruised to a 6-1 victory and spoiled the home opener for Bakersfield. The Condors had a handful of chances early to get on the board and set the tone, but Dubnyk made stellar save after stellar save. Stockton on the other hand buried its chances, scoring a pair of goals in all three periods. Teams combined for 36 power plays in the contest as Stockton went 2-for-17 and Bakersfield finished 1- for-19.

Saturday, Oct. 21: CONDORS 2 vs. Idaho 3 (Attendance: 6,029)

It was a much more spirited effort for Bakersfield Saturday night, but a ferocious Steelheads comeback proved to be too much. The Condors led 2-0 after two periods, but Idaho scored three times in the third, capped by Lance Galbraith's game-winner with 3:43 left in regulation. Alexandre Bolduc and Sean Venedam notched Bakersfield's goals.

Sunday, Oct. 22: CONDORS 5 @ Long Beach 4 (Attendance: 1,457)

Andrew Ianiero netted three points and Mike Hofstrand broke a four-all tie midway through the third period, leading the Condors to their first win of the season, a 5-4 triumph against the Ice Dogs. Bakersfield had leads of 2-0, 3-1 and 4-3, but Long Beach came back to tie each time. Hofstrand, however, gave Bakersfield the lead for good at the 8:11 mark of the third period, one-timing in a blast from the top of the slot. Danny Taylor picked up his first pro victory, stopping 18 shots.
