This Week's Games - Friday, October 27 at Pensacola and Saturday, October 28 vs. Pensacola (KFDM Opening Night 7:05 p.m. CT at Ford Arena)

The Wildcatters return home for KFDM Opening Night on Saturday as they play the first regular season game at Ford Arena in over 18 months when they face-off against the Pensacola Ice Pilots. Game time is 7:05 p.m. CT. Gates will open at 5:30 p.m. and Ford Arena will open at 6 p.m. Fans will be able to get their face painted, take photos, play X-Box 360s sponsored by Best Buy and there will be a few more surprises. Saturday night's game will be the second of a home and home series as the Wildcatters will battle the Ice Pilots first on Friday night in Pensacola. The Wildcatters hold a record of 1-1-0 this season while Pensacola is 0-3-0. The Wildcatters are entering their third season of hockey in the ECHL, after a one-year layoff due to Hurricane Rita. The Ice Pilots are entering their 11th year in the league. There will be 11 meetings between the two clubs (5 home, 6 away).

Last week - Wildcatters Win Season Opener, split series with Florida

Friday, October 20 at Florida 5-2 Win

The Wildcatters traveled to Florida to open up the 19th season of ECHL hockey as they took on the Florida Everblades at Germain Arena in Estero. The Wildcatters defeated Florida in come from behind fashion for their first ever opening night win. Texas scored five goals in the 2nd and 3rd period to beat Florida 5-2. Marco Rosa scored the first goal of the season and Kevin Baker led the charge for Texas with two power play goals. Brandin Cote and Leon Hayward rounded out the scoring. Goaltender Matt Yeats made 29 saves in the win. The Wildcatters went 3 for 13 on the power play and killed off 9 out of 10 penalties.

Saturday, October 21 at Florida 5-2 Loss

Florida responded after the Wildcatters opening night win, defeating Texas by the same score, 5-2. Paul Albers scored his first professional goal and Mike Bayrack netted his first of the season. Matt Yeats once again got the start in goal and made 22 saves in the loss. The Wildcatters' Jason Beeman dropped the gloves with Florida's Bill Kinkel for the first fight of the season. The Wildcatters went 1 for 11 on the power play and killed off 6 out of 8 penalties.

Roster Notes

Rane Carnegie was traded to Bakersfield for financial considerations. Matt Johnson was waived.

Riley Emmerson is on the 3 day injured reserve list.

Luis Tremblay is on the 7 day injured reserve list.

Catters School Care-A-Van Hits the Community

This week, the Texas Wildcatters first annual school care-a-van hits the road across Southeast Texas. The care-a-van will be visiting students from Brookeland to Sabine Pass with stops in Beaumont, Nederland, Orange and communities across the area.

Wildcatters players will be addressing students in Southeast Texas on the importance of issues that affect them in their youth. Wildcatters players will visit over 75 schools during the 2006-07 season and will be appearing throughout the community all season long.

Season Ticket Pick-Up

Season Ticket Holders can pick up their tickets tonight, Monday October 23 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.at Madison's on Dowlen. Madison's is located at 4020 Dowlen Road. Wildcatters players will be on hand. If a season ticket holder is unable to attend, the tickets may be picked up at the Wildcatters office at Ford Park during office hours.

Win Burgers When Wildcatters Score Five

This season, when the Wildcatters score five or more goals in a home game, each fan in attendance will win a free double cheeseburger from Burger King. Fans can bring their ticket stub to any Burger King location in Beaumont, Port Arthur, Buna and Vidor to receive their free burger. The offer is valid for one week after the game date.
