Augusta, GA - The Augusta Lynx added some American Hockey League experience to its blue line today with the inking of 25-year-old Jason Platt.

Platt spent the last two-plus seasons in the AHL playing for the Toronto/Edmonton Roadrunners and Iowa Stars. In 105 AHL games, the San Francisco, Calif. native has scored one goal with six assists and added 71 minutes in penalties with a -5 rating.

Originally drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in the eighth round, #247 overall, of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, the 6-1, 210 lb. defenseman played two seasons of junior hockey with the USHL's Omaha Lancers before heading to Providence College for four years. While with the Friars, Platt appeared in 126 games, notching five goals and 24 points with 149 minutes in penalties before turning pro at the end of his senior season.

The Lynx also announced that they have moved forward Joe Pereira to the 7-Day Injured Reserve list while placing forward Joe Cardarelli on the 3-Day IR.

Augusta will play a pair of road games this week at Columbia Friday night and in South Carolina Saturday evening. Both games start at 7:05 pm, with radio coverage beginning with the Classic Stucco and Stone Pre-Game Show one-half hour before faceoff on your Home for Lynx Hockey, NEWSTALKSPORTS 1630.
