The Falcons opened the 2006-07 season with a come-from-behind win over Las Vegas. Trailing 2-0 after one period, Fresno received second-period goals from Brady Leisenring and Rob McFeeters to tie the score after 40 minutes. After a scoreless third period and overtime, the game went to a shootout. Leisenring scored in the third round, and Colin Shields added a tally in round five to clinch the win for the Falcons. Scott Stirling stopped 35 shots in regulation, and all four Wranglers shootout attempts, to record the win in his Falcons debut.

Sunday, October 22 vs. Las Vegas FALCONS 4 Wranglers 3 (SO)

Fresno withstood a late Las Vegas rally to record its second straight shootout win on opening weekend. John Wroblewski opened the scoring with a shorthanded tally 1:14 into the second period, and Colin Shields added a 5-on-3 power-play goal at 6:28 to give the Falcons a 2-0 lead. Shields added his second of the night 1:57 into the third period giving Fresno a 3-0 advantage. But, the Wranglers mounted a rally scoring three times over the final 6:29 of the third period to send the game to overtime, and eventually a shootout. Neither team scored through four rounds in the shootout, and the Falcons ended the deadlock with a goal from John Morlang in round five, only to see the Wranglers answer in their half of the round. In the sixth round, Wroblewski notched a goal for the Falcons, and Ryan MacDonald turned aside Tyler Mosienko's bid to record the win in his professional debut.
