Belleville Senators News Release

The Belleville Senators beat the Syracuse Crunch for the second straight time after a comfortable 8-2 win Friday night at CAA Arena.

Vitaly Abramov (3), Filip Chlapik, Logan Brown, Rudolfs Balcers, Max Lajoie and Jack Dougherty scored while Joey Daccord made 22 saves. Syracuse's Mike Condon turned away 18 shots before being replaced by Spencer Martin who made 22 saves in relief. Cal Foote, Danick Martel had goals.

In a fast paced opening, it was the Sens who opened the scoring through Chlapik on the power play as he had all kinds of time in the left spot to pick his spot as he buried his fourth goal of the year at 4:52.

The Senators doubled its lead at 11:16 through Balcers as he took a lovely feed from a returning Logan Brown in on a break before beating Condon blocker side for his seventh.

Abramov made it 3-0 at 17:38 on a tip on the power play off of Jordan Murray's blast from the blue line before Balcers' added another 2:12 into the second period short-handed to make it 4-0 Belleville and chase Condon from the game.

The lead was five through Abramov as he wacked the puck out of air, Jedi style on Star Wars night, at 10:25 for his second of the game before Lajoie finished a juicy rebound at 11:46 for his first of the year.

Syracuse scored twice quickly through Foote and Martel in a 1:14 span beginning at 13:21 to cut the Belleville lead to 6-2.

The Sens pushed it to 7-2 with 5:31 to play on a nice backhander by Dougherty whose third goal of the season set a new career high. Abramov completed his hat-trick with 2:06 to play on the power play on a one-timer off of Max Veronneau's pass to make it 8-2.

The eight goals scored by Belleville tied a franchise record, done once previously.

Belleville plays its final game of 2019 Tuesday on New Year's Eve when they host Laval. Tickets are available and includes a post-game skate with the Sens.
