Utah Grizzlies News Release
West Valley City, Utah - The Utah Grizzlies scored four unanswered goals, after trailing 1-0 in the first period, and defeated the Alaska Aces 4-1 Friday night at the E-Center.
Alaska jumped ahead at 12:45 of the first on a Cam Keith goal. The Grizzlies reponded just 1:13 seconds later with a five on four power-play goal as James Laux found Anthony Battaglia. Those two connected again just over a minute later for another power-play goal as this time, Battaglia assisted Laux and the Grizzlies took a 2-1 lead into the first intermission.
In the third, the Grizzlies killed off six Alaska power-plays, including over a minute of a 5 on 3 shorthanded situation. Louis Dumont then gave the Grizzlies some breathing room with two goals as time ticked down, including an empty-netter, and the Grizzlies held on.
Utah goaltender Alfie Michaud stopped 37 of 38 shots from the Aces and improved to 3-2 on the season.
The Grizzlies wrap up their four-game home stand tomorrow night with the Aces. Face-off is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
