Augusta Lynx News Release

The Florida Everblades would rebound from a 1-0 first period deficit to defeat the Augusta Lynx 3-2 on Friday night at Germain Arena in Estero, Florida.

A sloppy opening period by the Everblades (2-1-0) led to a shorthanded goal by Jamie Johnson to put the Lynx (3-2-1) ahead 1-0. Johnson picked off a pass inside the Lynx blue line and raced the length of the ice, beating Phil Osaer over the left shoulder at 17:34 for the unassisted marker. Shortly thereafter, Osaer was forced to snuff a breakaway from the hash marks for Nicolas Corbeil as Corbeil picked the puck off on a clearing pass in front of the Everblades net on the same shift. Osaer finished the period with 10 saves, while Augusta's Trevor Cunning was sharp in his own right in stopping 12 Everblades attempts.

Florida fought back in the middle frame, scoring twice to grab a 2-1 lead. At 9:15 John Ronan took a bounce off the backboards in the slot and was able to beat Cunning over the left shoulder with a perfectly placed shot to tie the contest. Just a short time later at 13:30, Nick Vukovic's power play goal gave the Everblades the lead from Daniel Sisca and Steve Saviano. The Lynx managed to stem the tide from there to keep it at a one goal game.

The Everblades would increase their lead with the all-important first goal of the period at 5:26 as Anders Strome scored from Jonathan Lehun and Martin Lojek to make it 3-1, but Sam Ftorek pulled the Lynx back into the contest at 17:59 with help from Brian Passmore and Eric Lundberg for a 3-2 deficit. Despite pulling Cunning for the extra attacker, Osaer and the Everblades held firm for the victory.

Augusta finished 0-for-7 on the power play, while Florida would end the night 1-for-6. Osaer took the win with 35 saves, while Cunning the loss with 28 stops.
