
Gladiators Beat Stingrays 5-4

Pascal Pelletier posted a pair of goals while Chris Durno had three assists to pace the Gladiators to a 5-4 win over the South Carolina Stingrays on Friday night at the North Charleston Coliseum pushing the Gladiators to 3-0-1 on the year. South Carolina got on the board first as Dave Spina redirected a centering pass from Cam McCaffrey past Gladiators netminder Sean Fields. Robin Gomez added an assist on the tally at 11:01 of the opening period moving the puck up the wing to McCaffrey to set up the goal.
Ryan Fultz equalized the contest 91 seconds later finding a loose puck in the slot and ripping it past South Carolina netminder Maxime Daigneault on the power play. Chris Durno and Troy Milam picked up the assists on the tally for the Gladiators.
Gwinnett took a 2-1 lead 29 seconds into the second period on Chris Durno's first goal of the contest. Milam added his second assist of the night while Derek Nesbitt picked up a helper on the goal.
Scott Kelman extended the Gladiators lead to 3-1 slamming a centering feed from Durno past Daigneault at the 4:34 mark of the second period. Kelman and Durno hooked up on a 2-on-1 break to pick up the tally.
The Gladiators pushed their lead to 4-1 as Pascal Pelletier beat Daigneault in the slot with a quick snap shot. Pelletier picked up his third goal of the season as he took a centering pass from Ryan Fultz in the corner. Durno also had an assist on the goal at 6:51 of the second period.
Brad Parsons cut the Gladiators lead in half to 4-2 at the 13:58 mark of the second period on the power play. Ty Morris and Ryan Finnerty hooked up on the man advantage to fine Parsons open on the off wing to set up the tally and pick up the assists.
Gwinnett pushed the lead back to three goals at 5-2 on Pelletier's second goal of the night. Jeff Campbell and Steve Slaton moved the puck up the ice into the South Carolina zone to set up the play. Pelletier ripped a centering pass from Campbell past Daigneault just 1:59 into the third period for the goal.
South Carolina stormed back though, posting two goals in the final 10 minutes of the game to get back into the game. McCaffrey picked up his first of the night at the 10:47 mark of the third period unassisted.
The Stingrays got within a goal at the 14:10 mark as John Hecimovic was able to capitalized on a Gladiators defensive breakdown and pick up the unassisted goal beating Fields with a snapshot to short side. South Carolina could get no closer despite a handful of power play chances it the third period.
Gwinnett posted three power play goals in the win while Sean Fields finished with saves in his third win of the season for the Gladiators.
