Charlotte Checkers News Release

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Charlotte Checkers head coach and general manager Derek Wilkinson announced today that Hugh Jessiman has been reassigned to the team by the Checkers' AHL affiliate, the Hartford Wolf Pack. Jessiman was the New York Rangers first-round pick in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft (12th pick overall).

Jessiman, a 6-foot-6-inch, 226-pound right wing, had skated in seven games with the Wolf Pack this season with no points, two penalty minutes and a -2 rating. The 21-year-old rookie appeared in only 12 games last season at Dartmouth College due to injury.

During the 2003-04 campaign, Jessiman tied for the Dartmouth team lead in goals (16). He also finished second in points (33) and led the squad in penalty minutes (71). He earned ECAC Rookie-of-the-Year honors in 2002-03 after leading Dartmouth in goals (23) and finishing second in points (47).
