Gornick, Cameron Extend Streaks As Bombers Beat Victoria

Dayton, OH - The Dayton Bombers held off the Victoria Salmon Kings, 2-1, in front of 2,610 at the Ervin J. Nutter Center Friday night. Brian Gornick and Scott Cameron both extended their season-opening point scoring streaks to 6 games in the winning effort.

After a scoreless first period, Brian Gornick slapped home his 5th goal of the season at 10:45 of the second period to give Dayton a 1-0 lead. Scott Cameron gave the Bombers a 2-0 lead with a powerplay goal at 15:27, and Dayton led 2-0. Seth Leonard pulled Victoria within one with a powerplay goal at 18:18, and Dayton took a 2-1 lead into the locker room after 40 minutes.

There was no scoring in the third period. Dayton outshot Victoria 38-21, and goaltender Mike Ayers recorded 20 saves and first star honors.

The Dayton Bombers, proud "AA" affiliate of the National Hockey League's Columbus Blue Jackets, will celebrate their 15th Anniversary this season.
