Titans defeat Chiefs in shootout again, 3-2

TRENTON, NJ - The Trenton Titans scored their second consecutive 3-2 shootout victory over the Johnstown Chiefs in front of 3,718 at Sovereign Bank Arena.

For the first time in five games, the Titans drew first blood as Ned Havern notched his first goal as a professional tipping Scott Ford's point shot past David Currie at 16:21 of the first period.

The Chiefs answered back with Randy Rowe's second goal of the year just 3:15 into the second, but the Titans would regain the lead just 1:53 later. Working on a power play, Mathieu Brunelle fed a wide-open Havern in front the net for his second marker of the contest.

In the final frame, the Titans would be forced to kill off four penalties during a ten-minute span as they tried to hold on to their 2-1 lead. Johnstown finally broke through at 10:06 when the Joe Tallari lit the lamp during a 5-on-3 opportunity to the score.

The game would go through overtime and into the shootout where Scott May provided all the scoring Trenton would need and Martin Houle was a perfect 5-for-5 against Chiefs shooters.

Houle made 24 saves for the first win of his professional career while Currie turned away 35 as Johnstown feel to 0-3-3 on the season.

The Titans went 1-for-6 on the man advantage and 8-for-9 on the penalty kill.
