
Aces' Beckford-Tseu Named RBC Financial Group ECHL Saver Of The Month

PRINCETON, N.J. - Chris Beckford-Tseu of the Alaska Aces is the RBC Financial Group ECHL Saver of the Month for October.
Under contract to the St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League, the 21-year-old Beckford-Tseu was a perfect 3-0-0 with a shutout, a 1.33 goals-against average and a .949 save percentage. He helped Alaska begin the season 4-1-1 and earned ECHL Goaltender of the Week honors for October 24-30.
He had 23 saves in a 4-3 win against San Diego in the Aces home opener on October 22 and then stopped 29 of 30 shots for a 3-1 win on October 28 over Bakersfield. He earned his second professional shutout on October 30 when he had 23 saves in a 4-0 win against Bakersfield.
Selected in the fifth round (159th overall) by the St. Louis Blues in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, the 6-foot-3 and 205-pound Beckford-Tseu leads ECHL goaltenders in goals-against average (1.33) and is ranked fifth in save percentage (.949).
As a rookie in 2004-05, Beckford-Tseu was 11-12-3 with a 2.71 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage in 29 games with Peoria of the ECHL and also played in a game with Worcester of the American Hockey League, making seven saves in 29 minutes.
The Toronto, Ontario native spent three years with Guelph, Oshawa and Kingston of the Ontario Hockey League, accumulating a record of 36-53-6 in 115 games. In 2002-03 he appeared in 54 games with Oshawa and was 25-26-2 with a 3.16 goals-against average and a .891 save percentage.
