
Stingrays Grab Schwabe From Vegas

North Charleston, SC South Carolina Stingrays Head Coach Jason Fitzsimmons announced today that the team has acquired forward Evan Schwab from the Las Vegas Wranglers for future considerations. Schwab is expected to join the Stingrays next week. Terms of the deal were not released.
Schwab a 5-9, 170 lb rookie spent the last four seasons with the University of Minnesota-Duluth. Schwabe finished among the team's top two scorers his last two seasons and ranked as one of the highest scoring collegiate players in the country, posting 102 points in his final 83 games. He was selected to the All-WCHA second team for a second consecutive season in 2004-05. The 5-foot-9, 165-pound center occupied the top spot on the 2004-05 Bulldog scoring charts with 45 points with a career-high 19 goals and 26 assists and finished among the WCHA leaders in a multitude of statistical categories. Schwabe posted career highs as a junior with 19 goals and 38 assists for 57 points in 45 games played. The 57 points ranked third in the country and his 38 helpers ranked first in the nation.
We are very excited to have Evan joining our team," commented Head Coach Jason Fitzsimmons. "He has great offensive talent and should be another quality face off man for us as well."
Schwab is a native of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. He played in one game with the Wranglers and did not register a point before being dealt to the Stingrays.
The Stingrays are home tonight against the Gwinnett Gladiators at 7:05. The team will wrap up a three game home stand tomorrow evening when they host the Charlotte Checkers.
