Toledo Walleye News Release

(Toledo, Ohio) The Toledo Storm of the ECHL announced today that they have traded goaltender Doug Teskey to the Columbia Inferno of the ECHL for future considerations. The Storm also sent defenseman Paul Ballantyne to the Louisiana IceGators of the ECHL for future considerations. Toledo acquired goaltender Cory Campbell from the Johnstown Chiefs of the ECHL for future considerations. Toledo also added center Blaine Bablitz, defenseman Craig Olynick and future considerations from the Las Vegas Wranglers of the ECHL in exchange for center Morten Ask.

Nick Vitucci, Head Coach of the Toledo Storm, discussed the player movement "We are clearly looking towards the future with these deals at the trade deadline. All three players that are leaving Toledo are really good hockey players that will no doubt help the teams that they are now with. Looking to the future we add three very good and young players that will fit in well with what we are trying to do here. It is an exciting time right now."

All three players acquired by Toledo are in their first seasons in the ECHL. Campbell, who appeared in the 2003-2004 ECHL All-Star Game in just his first season in the league, has appeared in 19 games for the Chiefs this season. With Johnstown, Campbell has a record of 9-7-3 with a 2.04GAA and a .922SVP. Cory, drafted in the third round of the 1999 draft by the L.A. Kings, is also tied for the ECHL lead with four shutouts. He also played the second period of the All-Star game making eight saves on eleven shots.

Olynick, traded earlier today in a separate deal from Peoria to Las Vegas, has played the entire season with the Peoria Rivermen of the ECHL. The defenseman has 2 goals and 4 assists along with 94 penalty minutes in 37 games this year. Craig, a 2000 draft pick of the L.A. Kings, has had over 100 penalty minutes in each of his last four seasons. Bablitz has appeared in 23 games this year with the Wranglers, collecting 5 goals and 6 assists. Blaine has spent the last four seasons with the University of Alaska Fairbanks of the NCAA. In his career at Fairbanks, Blaine collected 84 points in 140 games.

Teskey, the 2002-03 team MVP, appeared in 42 games this season with the Storm. Doug has posted a record of 15-19-6 with a 2.97 GAA and a .909SVP. Teskey had one shutout this season against the Dayton Bombers on January 16th, when he made 28 saves. Doug was also called up to Grand Rapids of the American Hockey League twice and did not appear in any contests.

Ballantyne has 13 goals and 23 assists in his 54 appearances with the Toledo Storm this year. Paul was named InGlasCo ECHL Player of the Week on November 25th for the week of November 17-23. Paul registered 7 points (2-5) in just two games helping the storm to back-to-back wins against Dayton and Wheeling. Three of his thirteen goals this year have been game winners for the Storm.

Toledo will return to action Wednesday night at 7:30 against the Reading Royals at the Toledo Sports Arena.
