Eddie Pershin is seventh in the league in scoring with 72 points on 16 goals and 56 assists...Pershin leads the league with his 56 assists...Jason Jaffray is tied for 11th in scoring with 69 points on 33 goals and 36 assists...Jaffray is tied for fourth in the league in goals with 33...Jake Ortmeyer leads the league in +/- with a rating of +35...Tyler MacKay is sixth in the league with a 2.28 goals against average...Brendon Hodge is tied for 12th in rookie scoring with 45 points on 23 goals and 22 assists.
Team notes:
The Nailers win on Tuesday in Reading clinched the first playoff berth for the team since the 1997-98 season...The Nailers set a league record on Wednesday with their 11th shutout of the season, Martin Brochu has one, Tyler MacKay and Nick Boucher with four and Joe Exter with two...The Nailers have set franchise record with wins (48), road wins (21), points (99) and winning streak (12)...The Nailers have also tied the franchise record for consecutive road wins (8) and longest home unbeaten streak (20).
Tuesday, March 9
Wheeling 3 @ Reading 0
The Nailers improved their record against the Royals to 7-0-0 on the season with this win. Jason Jaffray gave wheeling a 1-0 lead at 3:57 of the second period with Eddie Pershin and Ryan Kiley assisting. Brendon Hodge added a power play goal at 5:08 of the third period from Joake Ortmeyer and Mario Larocque. Steve Crampton scored the final goal of the game at 11:38 from Larocque and Brad Mehalko. Joe Exter made 32 saves for his first professional shutout.
Wednesday, March 10
Wheeling 1 @ Atlantic City 0
The Nailers recorded back-to-back shutouts for the second time this season. For the second time this season the Nailers beat Atlantic City 1-0 with a gaol in the final moments of regulation. Mark Kosick scored the only goal of the game at 18:38 of the final period. Steve Crampton and Brad Mehalko assisted on the power play goal. Joe Exter made 23 saves for the win.
Friday, March 12
Atlantic City 4 @ Wheeling 3 (SO)
Atlantic scored two first period goals and another early in the second to take a 3-0 lead. The Nailers scored three goals in a 4:33 span to tie the game. Jake Ortmeyer scored a power play goal at 6:41 for the Nailers first goal. Larocque scored another power play goal at 10:30 to get the Nailers to within one goal. Ortmeyer scored his second of the game at 11:14 to tie the game. Tyler MacKay made 16 saves after replacing starter Joe Exter, and took the shootout loss.
Saturday, March 13
Wheeling 2 @ Johnstown 6
The Nailers continue to struggle against the Chiefs, falling to 3-5-0 for the season. All six Johnstown goals were scored on the power play. The Chiefs scored one goal in each of the first two periods to take a 2-0 lead. The Chiefs went up 3-0 early in the third period before the Nailers came back. J.F. Dufour and Eddie Pershin scored the Nailers goals to cut their deficit to 3-2. Johnstown scored three more times to beat the Nailers 6-2.
Sunday, March 14
Peoria 3 @ Wheeling 5
The Nailers completed their eight game in ten day stretch with a win against Peoria. Wheeling got two first prtiod goals from Mark Kosick to lead 2-1 after one period of play. J.F. Dufour and Stefan Brannare added second period goals and the Nailers led 4-2 through two periods. Both teams scored third period goals to end the scoring. Tyler MacKay made 25 saves on 28 shots for the win.

Friday, March 19
Wheeling @ Dayton 7:00p.m.
The Nailers only game of the week is a road game in Dayton. The Nailers are 7-0-0 against the Bombers this season, 4-0-0 in Wheeling and 3-0-0 in Dayton. The Nailers and the Bombers will play each other one more time this season, March 28 in Dayton.
Nailers Player of the Week:
The Nailers Player of the Week is Jake Ortmeyer. Ortmeyer had three goals and three assists for six points in five games last week. He had one power play goal and one empty net goal.
Nailers Goaltender of the Week:
The Nailers Goaltender of the Week is Joe Exter. Exter went 3-0-0 last week with two shutouts. His goals against average for the week was 1.78 with a .939 save percentage.
