
Saal Wins ITECH HOCKEY ECHL Saver of the Week Award

Jason Saal capped a terrific week in net for the Lynx by being named the ITECH HOCKEY ECHL Saver of the Week on Tuesday.
The 29 year old netminder recorded back to back shutouts to start the week, blanking South Carolina on Tuesday with 42 Saves, and following that up with a 1-0 shootout win over the Florence Pride, making 30 saves through overtime and then stopping 4-of-5 shooters in the extra session. To round out the week, Saal helped the Lynx to a 4-3 overtime victory over the Pensacola Ice Pilots on Sunday with a 34 save performance, including 16 in the third period. Saal also picked up an assist on the game-tying power play goal by Terry Marchant in the third period.
The Detroit, MI native captures his second ITECH HOCKEY ECHL Saver of the Week award, having been likewise crowned for the period ending 11/24/03. Saal's two consecutive shutouts helped him to set a new team mark for most minutes without allowing a goal, running to a total of 187:21 before allowing a goal at the 11:20 mark of the first period against Pensacola on Sunday.
Saal leads the Lynx against Gwinnett this Tuesday night at 7:05 pm, followed by a return home for three straight against Charlotte Friday at 7:35 pm, Gwinnett Saturday at 7:35 pm, and a Sunday matinee contest against Roanoke at 4:05 pm.
