Long Beach Ice Dogs News Release

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Ice Dogs Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations, Kevin Kaminski, announced today the team has traded defenseman Dan Vandermeer to the Idaho Steelheads in exchange for defenseman Michael Vyhlidal as part of a completion for future considerations. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Long Beach originally acquired Miguel Delisle from Idaho back on February 10 for future considerations, trading his rights the same day to acquire Martin Paquet. Long Beach, still owing Idaho compensation for the trade, today sent Vandermeer in exchange for Vyhlidal.

Vyhlidal, a 6-1, 202 pound defenseman from the Czech Republic, has played 59 games with Idaho this season scoring 3 goals and 13 assists and 34 penalty minutes. "Michael is a very good physical defenseman" said Kaminski. "He's really good with the puck and on the power play".

Vandermeer played in 61 games for the Ice Dogs, registering 6 goals, 23 assists and 115 penalty minutes. "By sending Vandermeer to Idaho, he has a good opportunity to get a ring this year", said Kaminski. Idaho has clinched a playoff berth and is currently in 3rd place in the Pacific Division with 79 points.

Long Beach will travel to Fresno tomorrow to take on the Falcons. Vyhlidal is expected to play in the game for the Ice Dogs.
