Pride Make Two Trades
March 16, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Myrtle Beach Thunderboltz News Release
FLORENCE, SC â The Florence Pride, proud members of the ECHL, announced today that they have traded veteran left-wing Eric Naud to the Pensacola Ice Pilots in exchange for a player-to-be-named later. In a separate deal, the Pride have traded the rights to right-wing Bobby Russell to the Trenton Titans.
The 27-year-old Naud re-signed with the Pride on January 13 after the UHL's Columbus Stars ceased operations. In 26 games with the Pride this season, Naud had six goals and added 13 assists for 19 points to go along with 55 penalty minutes. In 205 career games with the Pride, Naud tallied 43 goals and 67 assists, and also accumulated 603 penalty minutes.
"Naudy had a tough go of it this year with his UHL team folding in January," Pride Head Coach Perry Florio said. "He asked for some help and we mutually agreed this was the best thing for him. We wish him nothing but success in Pensacola, and look forward to talking to him again after the season."
"I would like to thank Perry and the Pride organization for granting my wish to be traded to a playoff contender," Naud said. "Coach gave me the chance to earn more money in the playoffs, and I am grateful for that. However, I do look forward to negotiating another contract with the Pride during the summer for next season."
Russell has been recalled to the AHL's Norfolk Admirals since February 20. In 20 games with the Pride this season, the veteran tallied 17 points on six goals and 11 assists.
Florence opens a four-game road trip with a pair of games this weekend, Friday at Gwinnett and Saturday at Columbus. The Pride return home on Saturday, March 27, hosting the Augusta Lynx at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the Florence Civic Center Box Office, or through TicketMaster at (843) 679-9333 or www.ticketmaster.com.
The Pride are currently accepting season-ticket applications for the 2004-2005 season. Applications can be dropped off at the Pride office from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, at the Customer Service Table on the concourse at all home games, or by mail to 3300 West Radio Drive; Florence, SC 29501.
