Southern Conference Quarterfinals Vs Pee Dee:

The Stingrays finished in Second place in the Southeast with a record of 42-22-8, while the Pride earned Third place with a record of 40-26-6. The Stingrays have a record of 7-1-1 against Pee Dee this season. This series marks the third time that these two teams have met in the Kelly Cup Playoffs. Each team has won one five game series against the other. Each team has a 5-5 all-time playoff record against the other. In 1998, Pee Dee won game five of the Southern Conference Quarterfinals, against the Stingrays, in Charleston. In 2000, South Carolina won game five of the Southern Conference Quarterfinals, against the Pride, in Florence.

The Stingrays have won the Kelly Cup twice in nine seasons. The team's first title was in 1997, while the second Cup came in 2001.

South Carolina comes into the post season having won its last four regular season games. The Rays have the best road record in the league at 22-9-5 and a home record of 20-13-3. The Stingrays finished the season with the third ranked power play in the league at 21.9%. The team's penalty kill finished ninth in the league at 82.2%. The Rays averaged 3.44 goals per game, which ranked the team ninth in the league. On defense the Stingrays allowed just 3.13 goals per game, which place them 12th in the league. Kirk Daubenspeck led the ECHL in wins during the regular season with 36. He had a record of 36-16-6, with a goals against average of 2.90 and a save percentage of .915. Dave Seitz led the team in scoring with 83 points on 23 goals and 60 assists. Adam Calder led the Rays in goals with 29. Matt Desrosiers finished second in the league in goals by a defenseman with 18.

Pee Dee has a home record of 27-6-3 and a road mark of 13-20-2. The Pride finished with an overall record of 40-26-6. Pee Dee's power play finished 20th in the league at 17%. On the penalty kill the Pride had a mark of 83%, which was ranked eighth in the ECHL. Matt Underhill was one of the top rookies in the league this season. The netminder posted a record of 24-13-3 with a 2.69 goals against average and a .901 save percentage. Matt Reid and former Stingray Greg Schmidt led the Pride in scoring with 72 points each. Mike Glumac led the team in goals with 37.
