
Bandits to Host Pensacola in Mini Game

BANDITS MOMENTS â PLAYOFF TICKETS â Bandits tickets are available by calling the Bandits office at 352-PUCK. In addition, group discounts, discounts for groups of 5 or more and birthday party packages are all available by calling the Bandits. Tickets for individual Bandits home games are available at the Coliseum box office, all BeBop Record Shops, and TicketMaster charge-by-phone by calling 355-5252.
BANDITS RECAP â
BANDITS 3, Louisiana 1 â Bryan Forslund and John McNabb both scored in the third period to help the Jackson Bandits beat the Louisiana IceGators, 3-1. Forslund snapped a 1-1 tie 7:12 into the final stanza and McNabb added an insurance marker on the power play with 4:14 left. Tyrone Garner stopped 18 of 19 shots to gain the win for Jackson, which has recorded three straight triumphs. Shawn McNeil tied the score at 1-1 on the power play with 3:39 remaining in the second period for Louisiana, which had a five-game win streak snapped. Phil Osaer finished with 27 saves in the loss.
BANDITS 4, Arkansas 1 - Jeff Bes and Scott Kelman both scored to help the Jackson Bandits beat the Arkansas RiverBlades, 4-1. Bes scored his 23rd goal of the year unassisted 2:28 into the second period for a 2-0 lead and Kelman added a power-play marker over 16 minutes later. Tyrone Garner stopped 15 of the 16 shots he faced to earn his 17th win of the season. Mike Cirillo scored the lone goal for Arkansas early in the third period. Scott Fankhouser gave up all four goals on 26 shots for the loss.
BANDITS 6, Mississippi 2 â Josh Olson scored twice to lead the Jackson Bandits to a 6-2 victory over the Mississippi Sea Wolves. Olson netted a power-play goal with 2:27 left in the second period and capped the scoring midway through the third. Sean Gillam, Scott Kelman and John McNabb all had a goal and an assist for Jackson, which has won five straight. Tyrone Garner finished with 28 saves for the win. Kent Davyduke and Travis Lisabeth both scored for Mississippi, which had a three-game win streak snapped. Greg Gardner gave up three goals on just 16 shots for the loss.
Bandits 2, LOUISIANA 4 - Bobby Brown and Martin Bartek both scored a goal and added an assist as the Louisiana IceGators snapped the Jackson Bandits' five-game winning streak, 4-2. Brown, assisted by Bartek, opened the scoring with his 37th goal 6:24 into the game. Bartek, helped by Brown, notched his 18th tally of the season less than 10 minutes later, giving Louisiana a 2-0 lead. Kevin Mitchell collected a pair of assists and Kyle Kettles stopped 23 shots for the IceGators, who only lost three of their final 11 regular-season games. Billy Newson and Andrei Lupandin both scored and Tyrone Garner turned aside 24 attempts for Jackson, which lost for only the third time in its last 15 games.
BANDITS MATCH-UPS â
Pensacola â The Bandits will be looking to advance into the first round of the 2002-03 ECHL Kelly Cup Playoffs when they host the Pensacola Ice Pilots on Tuesday, April 1st. The winner of this decisive game is reseeded as the fourth place seed, and will face the Mississippi Sea Wolves, while the losers go home. The Bandits have had the Ice Pilots number in 6 of the past 11 contests, while the Ice Pilots ended the season on a 12 game losing streak. The Ice Pilots are 13-19-4 on the road, while the Bandits have an astounding 25-9-2 home record. The Ice Pilots are led offensively by Greg Pankewicz (46g-41a) and led defensively by Maxime Gingras (23-24-9, .913 save percentage) between the pipes. Playoff action starts here in Jackson at the Mississippi Coliseum on Tuesday, April 1st at 8:05 p.m.
BANDITS BITES -
PLAYER OF THE WEEK â Sean Gillam had a goal and four assists this week to be the Bandits Player of the Week. Gillam, a native of Lethbridge, Alberta, posted a goal and an assist against his former team the Mississippi Sea Wolves on Saturday, and posted 3 more assists throughout the course of the week while maintaining a +2 rating.
GOALIE OF THE WEEK â Ty Garner stood on his head all week posting a 3-1-0 record to earn Bandits Goalie of the Week. Garner, a native of Stoney Creek, Ontario, held off both Louisiana and Arkansas at the start of the week only allowing 1 goal in each game. He then turned away 28 shots against the Mississippi Sea Wolves on Saturday, leading the Bandits on a powerful 5 game winning streak, before dropping against Louisiana on Sunday.
