Bandits 4, PENSACOLA 2 â Dave Stewart scored a pair of goals to lead the Jackson Bandits to a 4-2 decision over the Pensacola Ice Pilots. Stewart scored with 5:13 left in the first period and gave Jackson a three-goal cushion with his sixth marker of the season late in the second. Scott Kelman recorded a pair of assists and Adam Hauser turned aside 27 shots for the Bandits, who won just their third game in their last nine. Brad Dexter and Trevor Allman each scored a goal and Maxime Gingras stopped 19 shots for Pensacola, which has won only two of its last seven games.
Bandits 2, BATON ROUGE 0 - Rookie Adam Hauser matched a season-high with 36 saves to lead the Jackson Bandits to a 2-0 triumph over the Baton Rouge Kingfish. Hauser stopped 19 shots over the first two periods and a season-high 17 in the third to record his fourth shutout of the season. Darryl Laplante broke a scoreless tie with his second consecutive game-winner 1:50 into the second frame and John McNabb added his team-leading 28th tally late in the third for Jackson, which has played 17 of its last 18 games on the road. Jeff Blair gave up two goals on 19 shots in his 20th loss for Baton Rouge, which fell to 2-2 on its five-game homestand.
Bandits 4, LOUISIANA 2 - Scott Kelman scored twice and Adam Hauser made 36 saves to lead the Jackson Bandits past the Louisiana IceGators, 4-2. Kelman snapped a 1-1 tie midway through the second period and tallied his 11th of the season on a power play 4:15 later for a 3-1 lead. Hauser stopped 10 shots in both the first and third periods and all 16 in the second to remain unbeaten in regulation over his last six games (4-0-2). Jeff Bes and John McNabb had a goal and an assist apiece and Dave Stewart chipped in with three helpers for Jackson, which improved to 3-2 on its current six-game road trip. Bobby Brown recorded a goal and an assist, extending his point streak to seven games (six goals, five assists) for Louisiana, which has lost three of its last five. Kyle Kettles, who stopped 75 of 77 shots over his last two starts, allowed four goals on 35 shots to drop his record to 16-10-7 in his rookie season.
BANDITS MATCH-UPS â
Mississippi â The Mississippi Sea Wolves will be hosting the final road trip game for the Bandits, as they travel to Biloxi on Thursday night. The Sea Wolves have won eight of their last ten and will be looking to break the Bandits three game-winning streak. The Sea Wolves are currently posting a 22-7-3 home record, while the Bandits boosted their road record to 12-15-5 this week. The Sea Wolves are led offensively by Steffon Walby (37g-40a), and defensively by Greg Gardner (27-14-2, .921 save percentage). The puck drops at 7:35 p.m.
Baton Rouge â The Bandits will be hosting the Baton Rouge Kingfish in their first home game in two months as the Fish travel to the capital city on Friday. The Kingfish, who dropped their game last week against the Bandits 2-0, will be looking to even the score, and keep the Bandits in the fifth playoff seed. The Kingfish are led offensively by Chris Bell (17g-27a) and defensively by Niklas Sundberg (10-9-3, .912 save percentage). The puck drops at 7:05 p.m.
Arkansas â The Arkansas Riverblades will be trying to hold their playoff position as they visit the Bandits on Saturday. The Riverblades are currently in fourth place, despite only winning four of their last ten. The Riverblades are 13-13-5 on the road this year and are only 3 points ahead of the Bandits in the standings. The Riverblades are led offensively by Buddy Smith (24g-63a), and defensively by Scott Fankhouser (4-2-0, .906 save percentage). The puck drops at 7:05 p.m.
BANDITS BITES -
ROAD TRIP â The Bandits are getting ready to come home from the road after their 4th annual road trip away from the Coliseum. Due to numerous events at the Coliseum, the Bandits are spending 20 games on the road, taking them a whopping 9,411 miles this year. Even traveling at a smooth 70 mph all the way, it would still take over 134 hours to complete this journey. The longest leg of the trip came February 7,8, and 9 as the Bandits traveled to Florida for two games then to Columbus for one. The Bandits are on the road from Tuesday, January 14th until March 13th, and will not have another home game until March 14th against the Baton Rouge Kingfish.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK â The Bandits player of the week is Dave Stewart after posting an amazing 6 points in the past 3 games. Stewart, a native of Antigonish, Nova Scotia, picked up two goals (including a power-play goal) against Pensacola on Tuesday, then went on to put up three assists in Saturday's contest against the Louisiana Ice Gators. Runner up for the week is Scott Kelman who posted two goals (including a game-winner and a power-play goal) and three assists.
GOALIE OF THE WEEK â Adam Hauser went a perfect 3-0-0 this week and also picked up his fourth shutout of the year in order to earn Bandits goalie of the week honors. Hauser, a native of Bovey, MN, boosted his 17-9-3 record by stopping all 36 Kingfish shots, has had a breakout rookie year after helping the Minnesota Golden Gophers NCAA hockey team win the championship last year.
BANDITS ARE BACK â The first home game in two months will be held on Friday, March 14th as the Bandits take on the Baton Rouge Kingfish. The Bandits will be playing eight of the last eleven games this month at home, all against major division contenders. Redemption will be on the line as the Bandits face the Ice Gators three times in eight days, while Arkansas will only get two chances to keep the Bandits from stealing the fourth playoff seed and putting the mini game here in Jackson. Tickets are still on sale, but they're going very quickly, so call 352-7825 and get your tickets TODAY! Don't miss out on the excitement as the Bandits make their fourth consecutive run at the Kelly Cup!
