ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – The Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies were 3-1-0 heading into Wednesday's matchup against the Northeast Division's second-place Greensboro Generals. And the Generals made it difficult for the Bullies to grab two points, but Atlantic City prevailed and won 5-4 in overtime.

J.F. Caudron opened scoring with his 33rd tally of the season. Greensboro then answered with two goals to end the first period up 2-1.

Generals' Mike Bayrack scored his second of the night less than two minutes into the second period to give Greensboro a two-goal cushion, and Atlantic City played catch-up the remainder of the period. Stefan Rivard scored a power-play goal to cut the lead to one, but Greensboro's new acquisition Bryan Richardson scored to keep the Bullies at bay.

Luke Curtin closed out the second period with his eighth goal of the season and the Bullies headed into the third frame down by just one.

Jade Galbraith tied the game at four approaching the middle mark of the third period, and Peter Metcalf, who was assigned to the Bullies today from the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League, netted the game-winning goal in overtime to help the Bullies remain atop the Northeast Division.

CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies asserted itself Saturday night in Cincinnati by defeating the Cyclones 6-4. Dropping three of its last five games, the Bullies had seemed to hit a lull late in the season, but managed an overtime victory against Greensboro Wednesday night in Atlantic City and captured yet another in its first game of the team's season-long nine-game road trip.

Cincinnati's Mike Casselman scored the game's first goal, but the Bullies responded with three of its own to close out the first period, up 3-1. Atlantic City's Shawn Maltby and Stefan Rivard netted even-strength goals, and Paul Spadafora sandwiched the two with a short-handed tally.

The Cyclones managed two goals in the second period, including Casselman's second of the night, but J.F. Caudron helped the Bullies hold its lead on a power play with his 34th goal of the year, which leads Atlantic City.

Matt Noga tied the game five minutes, 14 seconds into the third period, but the Bullies refused to give in to its Northwest Division rival. Rookie Jade Galbraith netted the game winner eight minutes, 20 seconds after Cincinnati had caught up and Steve Munn added an unassisted short-handed goal for good measure with 22 seconds left in regulation. It was Munn's first professional career goal.

Scott Stirling stopped 23 Cyclones shots in his second consectuive start since re-joining the Bullies after his five-week stint with the American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

Ryan Mougenel earned an assist of Spadafora's shorty, extending his point-scoring streak to four games. Spadafora and Galbraith each finished the game with two points (1G, 1A). Rivard tallied three points (1G, 2A) in the win and Luke Curtin contributed two assists.

Chiefs Take Charge, Beat Bullies 5-1 Sunday, March 9, 2003

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – Atlantic City's offensive explosion against Cincinnati Saturday night did not carry over to the team's matchup against Johnstown Sunday. The Chiefs defeated the Boardwalk Bullies by a final of 5-1.

The Chiefs scored its five goals over the course of two and a half periods with Dmitri Tarabrin's first goal of the game six minutes, 50 seconds into the first frame proving to be the game winner. Tarabrin (2G, 1A) and Dominic Forget (1G, 2A) each finished the game with three points and Sam St. Pierre netted Johnstown's only power-play goal in five opportunities with four minutes, 48 seconds left in the second period.

It was too little and too late when Bullies' left wing Luke Curtin netted an unassisted tally with less than five minutes left in regulation.

Matt Yeats started for the first time in a week and stopped 26 Chiefs shots in the loss. Johnstown's Peter Aubry made 25 saves against the Bullies, including 17 combined in the first and second periods.

STIRLING RETURNS FROM BRIDGEPORT

Wednesday the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League returned goaltender Scott Stirling to the Bullies. In seven games with the Sound Tigers, Stirling earned a 6-1-0 record with a 2.57 goals against average and a 0.909 save percentage. The Hull, Mass., native was originally loaned to Bridgeport on January 24, 2003. The call-up to the Sound Tigers was the fifth for the 25-year old netminder this season.

METCALF AND PARADISE RE-JOIN BULLIES

Wednesday the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League assigned defenseman Peter Metcalf and forward Chris Paradise to the Bullies Metcalf and Paradise each spent a short stint with the Bullies in February before returning to Providence.

Metcalf, a rookie defenseman who played four seasons and was captain of the University of Maine Black Bears, earned four points on a goal and three assists in five games in his first stint with the Bullies. Metcalf originally joined the Bullies on January 31, 2003 and was recalled by the P-Bruins on February 15, 2003. In three games with the Bullies this week, Metcalf earned two points (1G, 1A), including the game-winning goal in overtime against Greensboro Wednesday night.

Paradise, a rookie forward from St. Paul, Minn., and played four seasons at the University of Denver, tallied one goal in four games in his first stint with the Bullies. Paradise originally joined the Bullies on February 1, 2003 and was recalled by Providence, with Metcalf, on February 15, 2003. In three games with the Bullies this week, Paradise tallied one assist in the Bullies' 6-4 win against Cincinnati.

BULLIES IN THE BUFF COMING SOON

The Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies announced that "Naked Hockey: The Boardwalk Bullies Exposed" is scheduled to air on WMGM Channel 40 on Thursday, March 27, at 7 p.m.

Believed to be Atlantic City's first "au naturel" family-oriented hockey highlight television special will feature some of the best action from the 2002-03 regular season and a look ahead to this year's Kelly Cup Playoffs.

The show will be hosted by Rob Simpson, the radio voice of the Boardwalk Bullies, along with several Bullies players in various stages of undress. Interviews include General Manager Matthew Loughran and Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Michael Haviland.

Scott Stirling earned his first two consecutive starts this week when he re-joined the Bullies after a five-week stint with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers...Ryan Mougenel snapped a four-game point scoring streak on Sunday...In four games dating from March 1 – 8, Mougenel tallied five points (1G, 4A)...J.F. Caudron leads the team in scoring with 71 points (34G, 37A)...Jim Henkel leads the team in plus-minus with a plus-22...Henkel is fourth in the league in scoring among rookies with 59 points (26G, 33A)...Jade Galbraith is third in the league in scoring among rookies with 60 points (23G, 37A) in 59 games...Luke Curtin has 14 points (3G, 11A) and was a minnus-3 in his last 10 games.
