Texas Wildcatters News Release

Beaumont, TX (March 31, 2003) - The Texas Wildcatters Hockey Team has launched a "Name the Mascot" contest for local children to nickname the team's official mascot. The contest, sponsored by The Beaumont Enterprise, is open to all children 12 years old or younger. The winner will receive the first official mascot appearance at their school, a fou r-pack of tickets to the Texas Wildcatters' home opener, a team-autographed hockey stick, an official game puck, and a T-shirt.

The Wildcatters' team mascot is a large cat dressed in traditional wildcatter clothes of black overalls with the team logo, a gold T-shirt, and an oiler's hat. A wildcatter was an oilman who drilled exploratory wells in territories not known to be an oil field during the oil boom.

Children may enter the "Name the Mascot" contest by completing the entry form found in The Beaumont Enterprise and mailing it to the Texas Wildcatters at P.O. Box 22799, Beaumont, TX 77720 or by downloading the entry form from the Wildcatters' website at www.wildcattershockey.com. The contest entry forms must be received by April 23, 2003 and the Texas Wildcatters' staff will select the winning name from the ones suggested by the kids. If multiple entries of the winning name are received, the Wildcatters will randomly select one winner.

The new Texas Wildcatters' mascot will be available for appearances at local schools, events and charity functions. For additional information, please contact the Wildcatters at (409) 839-2344.

The Texas Wildcatters Professional Hockey Team is a new member of the East Coast Hockey League.
