Over: Scott Hewson's goal at the 11:27 mark of the third period of Tuesday's 4-1loss to the Mississippi Sea Wolves snapped the Kingfish's scoreless streak at 320:09. Before Hewson's goal, Joe Guenther was the last Kingfish to score a goal a he tallied the Kingfish's third goal at the 16:17 mark of the second period in a 4-3 shootout win back on March 8th. With out scoring a goal in 320:09, over 15 periods of hockey and four games without a goal, the Kingfish set the ECHL record for longest streak without a goal.

Called Up: Kingfish forward Dan Sullivan was called up to the Lowell Lock Monster of the American Hockey League on Thursday. Sullivan becomes the third Kingfish called up this while he joins Tom Kaiman, the first Kingfish called up, in Lowell. Niklas Sundberg became the second Kingfish called up to the AHL as he joined the Hartford Wolfpack on Monday. Kaiman has tallied 17 penalty minutes in six games with Lowell. Sundberg saw 3 minutes and 12 seconds of action with Hartford while Sullivan tallied an assist in two games with Lowell.

Goals: The Kingfish scored three goals this week, all with a man advantage. Hewson's goal against the Mississippi Sea Wolves came on the power play while Erik Adam's first period goal on Friday against the IceGators also came on the power play. Alexandre Burrows's goal in early in the third period did not come on the power play, but was scored with an extra attacker as the Kingfish continued to control the puck on a delayed penalty against the Arkansas RiverBlades.

Final: The Kingfish finish the 2002-03 ECHL season with 49 points and a 20-42-9 overall record. Baton Rouge went 11-23-2 at home and 9-20-7 on the road. In addition, the Kingfish set a couple of team and individual records this season. Bryan Richardson broke two Kingfish records this season including most goals as a Kin gfish (104) and most power play goals (29). He also holds the second longest goal-scoring streak this season in the ECHL as he had a goal in 7 straight games from with the Kingfish before being traded to Greensboro. The Kingfish also tied the record for most times being shutout as they were blanked 10 times and also set the ECHL record for longest consecutive streak being shutout at 320:09. Chris Bell finishes the season as the Kingfish's leading scorer with 44 points, which includes his time with the Greensboro Generals. Niklas Sundberg ends the season as Baton Rouge's top netminder with a 3.12 goals against average and a 10-10-2 record with the Kingfish.

March 25th, Mississippi 4, Kingfish 1

Stu Pietersma tallied two goals for the Sea Wolves while Greg Gardner made 49 saves for Mississippi as the Sea Wolves dumped the Kingfish, 4-1. Stu Pietersma gave the Sea Wolves a 1-0 lead late in the first period as he was able to stuff a loose puck under Jeff Blair at the 15:57 mark out of a pile up in front of the Kingfish net. Mike Scott extended the Sea Wolves lead to two early in the second period on the power play. Two and a half minutes later Pietersma's second goal of the night gave the Sea Wolves a 3-0 lead as he beat Blair on a breakaway. Scott Hewson broke the Kingfish scoreless streak as he deflected a shot from the point past Greg Gardner at the 11:26 mark of the third period. The goal stopped the Kingfish's scoreless streak at 320 minutes and 9 seconds. Mississippi extended it's lead to 4-1 late in the third as Jeff Hutchins took an outlet pass coming out of the box from Walby and fired a shot over the shoulder of Blair.

March 28th, Louisiana 4, Kingfish 1

The Louisiana IceGators used goals from four different players as Kyle Kettles registered 43 saves in a 4-1 win over the Kingfish at the Centroplex. The IceGators jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead as Casey Kesserling flipped a shot over Jeff Blair's shoulder just 20 seconds into the firs t period. John DePourcq extended Louisiana's lead to two goals on the power play 3:57 into the first. The IceGators took a three goal lead as Martin Bartek slipped a loose puck past Blair on another IceGators' power play at the 11:58 mark of the first. Erik Adams got the Kingfish on the board before the end of the opening period as he lifted a backhand over the shoulder of Kyle Kettles with only 34 seconds left in the period. Late in the third period Andrew Proskurnicki added an insurance empty net goal as Jeff Blair was lifted in favor of an extra attacker at the at the 8:02 mark of the period.

March 30th, Arkansas 2, Kingfish 1

The Arkansas RiverBlades used two first period goals and 32 saves from Scott Fankhouser to slip past the Baton Rouge Kingfish, 2-1 in the 2002-03 season finale for both teams. Matt Pagnutti gave the RiverBlades a 2-1 lead 29 seconds into the first period as he fired a laser over Jeff Blair's shoulder from the left point. Arkansas took a 2-0 lead before the end of the first as Buddy Smith beat Blair on a power play at the 18:50 mark of the opening period. Alexandre Burrows cut the RiverBlades lead in half as he lifted a backhand over the shoulder of Fankhouser just 2:47 into the third period but the Kingfish could get no closer.
