The Week Ahead:

Tuesday, January 11, 2005 Vs Columbia -7:05 North Charleston Coliseum

Radio: ESPN Radio 910AM The Team 6:35 Air Time

The Stingrays have a record of 2-3 against Columbia this season. Columbia goaltender Mike Minard has a mark of 3-0-1 against the Rays with a GAA of 1.58. The Inferno sits in third place in the East Division with a record of 17-9-3. Joe Tenute has four points on two goals and two assists in five games against the Inferno

At the Coliseum: Two for Tuesday, two for one tickets and hot dogs and two dollar beers. Dodge ball tournament continues.

Friday, January 14, 2005 @ Gwinnett – 7:35 Arena At Gwinnett Center

Radio: ESPN Radio 910AM The Team 7:05 Air Time

This is the second meeting of the season between these two teams. The Stingrays lost 8-4 the last time in Gwinnett on November 25th. The Gladiators have a record of 17-10-4 on the season.

Saturday, January 15, 2005 @ Augusta – 7:35 Augusta Civic Center

The Stingrays are 1-2 this season against the Lynx. All three games have been played in Augusta. The Lynx come into the week having won two straight.

The Week That Was:

Friday, January 7, 2005 Stingrays 3 Vs Florida 2 OT

The Stingrays charged out to a 2-0 lead on two second period goals, but Florida potted two in the third period to force overtime. Ed Courtenay's second of the night proved to be the game winner in the extra session.

Saturday, January 8, 2005 Stingrays 5 Vs Pee Dee 2

Ed Courtenay had the game winning goal for the second straight night and Kevin Spiewak had a goal and two assists for South Carolina in the victory.

The Team:

South Carolina enjoyed home wins against two first place teams over the weekend to even its record at 14-14-3. The win on Friday snapped a five game winless streak. South Carolina sits in fifth place in the East Division with 31 points. The Rays have the tenth spot in the conference. At home, the Stingrays have a record of 9-4-1, but they are 5-10-2 away from the North Charleston Coliseum. The Rays special teams continue to improved including the impressive penalty kill, which ranks first in the league at 90.4% with seven short handed goals. The Rays power play is in the top ten in the league now, ranked seventh at 17.6%.

The Players:

Ed Courtenay has scored four goals in his last three games including two game winning goals. Carlyle Lewis has eight points on three goals and five assists in his last ten games. Rookie goaltender Maxime Daigneault is 1-1 with a 1.95 GAA in his last two starts. Joe Tenute's 29 points rank him sixth in the ECHL among rookies. Mark Ardelan leads all ECHL defenseman with eight goals.

Parsons Called Up

South Carolina Stingrays center Brad Parsons was called up to the Portland Pirates of the AHL on Saturday. Parsons spent the last two seasons in Portland. The third year center has 15 points for the Rays this season.

Scooby Doo Coming to the North Charleston Coliseum

Cartoon character Scooby Doo is scheduled to appear at the North Charleston Coliseum for the first of two Kid's days this season. Scooby Doo will be on hand to great kids on Sunday, January 23rd when the Stingrays host the Johnstown Chiefs. Fans will have an opportunity to skate with the Rays after the game.
