STORM NOTES
- Three for Four! The Toledo Storm won 3 of 4 games played this past week. Toledo won three consecutive games for the fourth time this season.
- Scooting To Victories! On Friday night, the Toledo Storm welcomed Scooter Smith to the team and he responded. Smith scored a power play goal in the first period Friday and added the lone goal in the shootout for a Toledo win. Saturday night, Scooter scored the eventual game winner with a first period shorthanded goal. He also added an assist Sunday.
- The Fence Must Be Activated! Toledo has a record of 16-4-1 when holding the opposition to the 3 goals or less. When allowing more than 3, the Storm is 0-9-2.
- Toledo is 9-6-0 at home and 7-7-3 on the road this year.
- Toledo's power play unit ranks 14TH in the ECHL, with 23 power play goals in 140 chances (16.4%).
- The penalty kill unit of Toledo has allowed just 20 goals in 133 chances against this season (85.5%). That is 8th in the ECHL.
STORM WATCH
- On Tuesday night, it is another edition of the Toledo Storm Coach's Show. Pierre Luc-Sleigher will join Head Coach Nick Vitucci this week and the voice of the Storm Matt Melzak live at the Bronze Boar from 6-7pm. The Boar is located at 20 South Huron Street. The Coach's Show can be heard live this week on Fox Sports Radio 1230!
- Toledo returns to action Friday night in Dayton. Toledo is 4-0-0 against the Bombers this season. The Storm has outscored Dayton 18-8 in those games. This game will be the third of five played between the two clubs in January. Toledo has 5 power play goals against Dayton. Dayton is led by 2005 All-Star Tyler Kolarik, who has 11 goals and 11 assists.
- Saturday night it's off to Johnstown. Toledo is 1-2-0 against the Chiefs, losing both games in Johnstown. Tyler Knight has a pair of goals against the Chiefs. Over his last eight starts, goaltender David Currie has a 4-2-1 record and a 2.59GAA.
- Sunday afternoon, the Storm will be in Reading. This is the first meeting of the year between these two in Reading. The Storm and Royals split two games in December at the Sports Arena. Reading won the first match up 5-2, and Toledo took the second 3-2 in a shootout.
STORM PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOMINATION:
Scooter Smith (2 goals - 1 assist = 3 points)
Scooter was fantastic in his debut with the Storm. His shootout goal was good for a win.
STORM GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK NOMINATION:
Scott Fankhouser (3-1-0, 1 Shutout, 7GA & 112SV)
Scott won three games for the Storm, and collected his second shutout of the season Saturday night.
