For the Week: 0-3-0

Season record 14-16-3, 31 points, 5th place in the South Division

Leading scorers Wes Mason 15-17-30, Randy Dagenais 7-17-24, David Bararuk 9-15-24

Lafayette, LA – In one of the most tumultuous weeks in team history, the Louisiana IceGators went 0-3-0, falling to two games below the .500 mark. The Gators are winless in 2005 and have a 4 game losing streak. In the 10 year history of the team, the Gators have never been below .500 this late in the season, except for the 1996-97 campaign when the team forfeited 10 games due to an illegal player.

Last Week

Friday: For the 2nd game in a row, the Louisiana IceGators gave up 7 goals in a game, falling to the Pensacola Ice Pilots 7-4 in "The Hangar". Seven different Ice Pilots scored, including two on the power play. The Gators got goals from Mark Rooneem, Roger Leonard, David Bararuk and Randy Dagenais.

Saturday, The Pensacola Ice Pilots scored 2 shorthanded goals and two power play goals on as the Louisiana IceGators remained winless in 2005 falling 5-2 in "The Hangar". Tyler Beechey led the way for the home team with two goals and two assists. Jade Galbraith and Max Fortunus scored the two markers for Louisiana.

Sunday, The Louisiana IceGators losing streak stretched to 4 games as the Gators allowed a team record 5 power play goals to the Augusta Lynx in a 6-4 loss in Augusta. The Lynx scored all five power play goals in the first two periods. For Louisiana, Josh Barker and John Evangelista each scored for the first time this season. Rookies Roger Leonard and Mark Rooneem added the other two goals.

The Nominees are: The IceGators nominees for ECHL of the weekly awards are Mark Rooneem and Goaltender Nathan Marsters.

The Week Ahead

The IceGators will play four games in five nights this week. Louisiana will see action in three different time zones, playing Tuesday at 6:05pm in Gwinnett against the Gladiators, Thursday at 7:05pm in Biloxi against the Sea Wolves and Saturday at 9:05pm at the San Diego Gulls.

Coming Up At Home

Friday, January 14, 2005 NASCAR Night, Gators vs. Sea Wolves 7:05pm:

The ONLY home game of the month in on January 14, when the Gators host the Mississippi Sea Wolves on NASCAR night. Dale Earhardt Jr's #8 race car will be on display during the game. Pictures can be taken with the car for $10, net proceeds to benefit St. Jude's hospital. The Gators will be wearing special "NASCAR" jerseys which will be auctioned off after the game. Broadcast Info All games this week can be heard on 960am "The Gator". In addition to the radio broadcasts, all games can be heard via the internet at www.icegators.com. All four contests games will have a video webcast available through the B2 Network and IceGators.com.

Notes

Injury Report Jake Ortmeyer, the IceGators team Captain, injured his knee in Friday's game against Pensacola and was placed on the 7 day injured reserve. The full extent of the injury will not be determined until the team returns to Lafayette on Wednesday.

Special Teams problems In three games last week, the IceGators gave up 11 goals via the special teams. Pensacola scored two power play goals on Friday, two power play and two shorthanded on Saturday and the Lynx put five power play goals into the net on Sunday.

Martsers Makes Five On Tuesday, the ECHL announced IceGators goaltender Nathan Marsters has been named to the American Conference All Star team. Marsters will be the sole Louisiana representative to the 13th annual Coors Light ECHL All-Star Game on January 26 in Reading. Marsters is the 5th IceGators goaltender to be named to the ECHL All-Star game, following in the footsteps of Bryan Schoen, Bujar Amidovski, Jason Saal, and Frederic Cloutier.

Project MAMA

For the entire season the Gators are encouraging fans to participate in the Project MAMA. A list of supplies needed by our local troops serving overseas is listed at http://www.icegators.com/news/?cat=1&id=627 and in the lobby of the Cajundome for during every IceGators home game.. The team will have drop off points at the Cajundome for every home game and the effort will culminate our next Armed Forces Nights on March 20, 2005. On this night, children of our deployed troops will have a special day of IceGators hockey complete with a tour of the locker room and a picture with their favorite player. That picture along with supplies will be sent to loved ones overseas.
