Snowden tricks Gators again

Beaumont, TX - Playing the final game of the season in Beaumont, the Louisiana IceGators fell to the Texas Wildcatters 7-4.For the second time in six days, John Snowden recorded a hat trick, scoring three goals to go along with two assists, pacing Texas to victory.
The Wildcatters picked up where they left off last Saturday night outshooting, the Gators 20-8 in the first period en route to a 2-0 lead. John Snowden kept up his torrid pace against Louisiana by scoring on a one timer off a faceoff at 16:05. Andrew Ianiero won the draw to Snowden in the slot and the sniper fired a bullet to the top shelf for his 33rd of the year. Twenty four seconds later Texas used another shot from the slot to take a two goal lead as Mark Gianetti fired a low wrister off the far post and into the net past Nathan Marsters for his 10th of the season. Snowden and Ianiero getting the assists on the goal.
Both teams lit the lamp twice in the 2nd period to make the score 4-2 after 40 minutes of play. Louisiana finally broke through on Phil Osaer at 1:39 as Wes Mason (31) pushed a rebound just over the goal line to cut the lead to 2-1. Osaer immediately kicked the puck away but the goal stood as Jim Shepherd got the assist. Gianetti (11) scored his 2nd of the night on a tip in at 9:53. Gianetti redirecting a Snowden pass over Marsters for a power play goal. The Gators cut the lead to one at 11:47 as Josh Barker scored a shorthanded goal. The defenseman getting his 5th of the year, when he lofted a wrist shot from the left circle toward the net. Osaer took his eyes of the soft shot and missed it with the glove hand. It was the Gators 9th short handed tally of the season.57 second later, Texas answered as Snowden scored on the power play for his 2nd of the game, 34th of the season as the home team regained a two goal cushion.
Louisiana controlled the first half of the third period and tied the game at 4-4. At 5;14 with an extra attacker for a delayed penalty, Jade Galbraith hopped off the bench and steraked to the net, Barker hit him in stride and the low wrist shot made it a 4-3 game. Galbraith's lamp lighter was his 20th of the year. Galbraith's 21st of the year brought the team even as his slap shot from the right point slipped through the defense and tied the game at 4-4. Snowden would have the last say in a wild 3rd period, as at 12:50, Marsters was knocked into the net by his own defenseman allowing Snowden to pick up the loose puck and put into the unguarded cage to make the score 5-4. Snowden's 35th of the season and 3rd of the game would be the game winner. Ty Hennes added two late empty net goals to make the final score 7-4
With the win, Louisiana's record is now 25-40-6, 56 points and 5th place in the South. The Gators were outshot by Texas 47-39. Power plays were 1-8 for the Gators and 2-7 for the Wildcatters.
The Gators next game is tomorrow night, April 9, when the Gators host the Texas Wildcatters at 7:05pm. This will be "Fan Appreciation Night" with special prizes being awarded throughout the game.
