Johnson named to All-ECHL second team
April 9, 2005 - ECHL (ECHL)
Augusta Lynx News Release
The ECHL announced today that Augusta Lynx forward Jamie Johnson has been selected for All-ECHL Second Team honors.
Johnson, who currently leads the Lynx in goals (22), assists (57), points (77), and game winning goals (5), sits second in the ECHL in scoring as well. His 31 power play points ranks fourth in the league, while his 24 power play assists is T-4th in the ECHL this season as well.
"Jamie's been a definite bright spot for us this year," said Lynx head coach and director of player operations Stan Drulia. "He's just a tremendously talented player, and we've been fortunate to have him in the lineup all season long. If there's no lockout this year, he's a guy who might not have been here this length of time."
The 5-11 Port Frank, Ontario native is in his sophomore season of pro hockey. Last year with the Louisiana IceGators, Johnson scored 12 goals and 57 points in 71 games. He was acquired by Augusta along with defenseman Rod Sarich for Matt Dzieduszycki at the completion of the 2003-04 season.
The Lynx round out the 2004-05 ECHL regular season with a home and home series against the Gwinnett Gladiators this weekend. Friday night Augusta will head to Gwinnett for a 7:35 pm clash, followed by the regular season home finale on Saturday night, also a 7:35 pm start. Pre-game show kicks off one half-hour before game time on your Home for Lynx Hockey, NEWSTALKSPORTS 1630. Tickets are on sale for Saturday's game by calling the Lynx office at (706) 724-4ICE, through all TicketMaster locations, and on line at www.TicketMaster.com.
