Texas Wildcatters News Release


Beaumont, TX (January 3, 2005)– The Texas Wildcatters, an affiliate of the Florida Panthers (NHL) and San Antonio Rampage (AHL), dropping a pair of games against division rivals last week.

On Saturday, the Wildcatters fell in a goaltending duel with the Mississippi Sea Wolves. Both netminders, Phil Osaer for Texas and Matt Underhill for Mississippi, made some spectacular saves but the Wildcatters fell 1-0. The lone goal was scored by Mississippi's Jeff Hutchins on the power play in the second period.

On Sunday, the Wildcatters faced the division-leading Pensacola Ice Pilots. The ‘Catters were able to jump out to the lead when Andrew Ianiero scored just 1:36 into the first period. However, the Ice Pilots had three-point nights from Dwayne Hay, Tyler Beechey and Aaron Phillips as they went onto a 4-2 victory. The other Texas goal came from Mark Wires.

The Wildcatters hit the road for five games in seven nights starting with a game against the Greenville Grrrowl on Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. The trip will also include a pair of games against Pee Dee on Thursday and Friday, followed by a stop in Charlotte on Saturday against the Checkers. They finish out the road trip in Gwinnett against the Gladiators on Monday at 12:30 p.m. Fans can catch all the action on ESPN Radio 1450 the Ticket.

Upcoming Week

The Wildcatters have four games this upcoming week. The Greenville Grrrowl will host the ‘Catters on Tuesday for the third game between these two teams. The team will then travel to Pee Dee to play back-to-back games against the Pride in the first of four meetings this season against the Pride. Texas will finish out the week in Charlotte on Saturday night for the final contest between these two teams.
