Last Week
Wednesday, Condors 4 @ Trenton Titans 3
Likit Andersson raced from the penalty box in the final minute of play, retrieved a loose puck in the Titans zone and buried it for the game winning goal with just 42 seconds remaining in regulation. The Condors had come back from a 2-0 first period deficit to seize a 3-2 advantage at the end of 40 minutes. Andersson's goal regained the lead after the Titans tied it on the power play earlier in the third. Connor James, Paul Rosebush and Brett Lutes also scored for Bakersfield.
Friday, Condors 4 @ Reading 3 (SO)
Dennis Shiryaev's goal with just 25 seconds left in regulation tied the game and Randy Petruk stopped four of five in the shootout for his 100th career victory, 4-3 over Reading. Connor James scored for the second straight night to make it 1-0 after one. Reading tied it in the second and the two clubs exchanged third period tallies in the see-saw battle. Brett Lutes also scored for the second straight game and Bakersfield outshot the Royals 34-15 over the last two periods and overtime.
Saturday, Condors 4 @ Johnstown 1
Chris Twerdun's power play goal early in the third snapped a 1-1 tie and Bakersfield padded the lead with two more in the third period to take a 4-1 win in Johnstown. Kevin St. Jacques, Lars-Peder Nagel and Vlad Serov also lit the lamp for the Condors as Yutaka Fukufuji won his third straight start.
Sunday, Condors 3 @ Trenton 1
Bakersfield got goals from Connor James, Dennis Shiryaev and Lars-Peder Nagel as they picked up their second win over Trenton in a week, 3-1 on Sunday. Randy Petruk surrendered only a power play goal by Trenton in the third and won for the second straight game. The Condors improved to 5-0-1 against the North Division on the season. Nagel scored an empty net goal for the second straight contest.
Where we stand
The Condors stand alone in first place in the National Conference West Division with a 21-9-4 record and 46 points in the standings. Second place Long Beach trails Bakersfield by five points.
What's up this week
The Condors finish up their eight-day, six-game trek to the East Coast on Tuesday and Wednesday, in Reading and Atlantic City, respectively. Both games start at 4:00 p.m. Pacific Time. All Condors games, home and away, can be heard live on KGEO AM 1230, online at www.bakersfieldcondors.com and now available for viewing through B2 Networks on the official Condors website.
They return home on Saturday, January 15th against Las Vegas for the final time the Wranglers will be in town. That game is Nip & Puck Night, featuring a personal makeover giveaway, sponsored by Bright House Networks, The Big 96.5 and Shaanti Medi-spa. · RW Dennis Shiryaev has recorded a point in three straight games (2g-1a).
· G Randy Petruk recorded his 100th career victory on Friday night.
· C Kevin St. Jacques is tied for 10th in the ECHL in scoring with 33 points and fifth with 25 assists.
· C Lars-Peder Nagel is tied for fourth in the ECHL for rookie scoring with 30 points.
· D Guy Dupuis is tied for second among all ECHL defensemen in scoring with 24 points.
· Dating back to December 17th in Las Vegas, the Condors have won six straight road games.
